List Video – Simple step-by-step guide

A beginner-friendly guide to making List Videos on Trending.com. Create facts, tips, jokes, trivia, and more (v001).

What this video is

A List Video is a hook plus a set of short, punchy items (facts, tips, jokes, myths, trivia, and more). It is designed for TikTok, Reels, and Shorts.

What you do

  • Pick a list type (facts, tips, jokes, etc.) or leave it blank for a surprise.
  • Optional: choose a subcategory and add a custom topic prompt.
  • By default, script generation can add 2 AI comment prompts. These are short lines that ask viewers to reply in the comments, like finishing a sentence, using autocorrect, or giving a quick reaction. More replies can help your video feel active and can help platforms notice that people are interacting with it. You can turn this off before generating.
  • Optional: insert one or more comment prompts yourself, and choose where each one should appear.
  • Edit, reorder, or delete script lines; the intro line is optional and can be deleted. You can also add emotion/sound cues in brackets, like [laughs] or [crowd gasps].
  • Choose a voice (optional).
  • Pick background clips (or let us auto-pick them).
  • Pick a caption style.

What we do for you

  • Write a hook plus the list items in a clear order. If the hook teases the ending, it uses wording like the last one instead of numbered item labels.
  • Create narration and timed captions.
  • Trim and time clips to match each list item.
  • Render the finished video.

Steps (simple)

  1. Name your video
Give it a name you will recognize.
  2. Script
We generate the hook and list items. You can edit them, add emotion/sound cues in brackets (like [laughs]), and optionally add comment prompts that ask viewers to reply. The button to continue to Step 3 appears at the top and bottom of the editor and saves your latest script edits before moving on.
  3. Voice
We create narration. If you already have narration, regenerating asks for confirmation before it replaces the current audio and charges again.
  4. Captions (auto)
We turn the narration into timed captions.
  5. Pick background clips
Select clips that match your topic (or keep defaults). Use the Play/Pause button to preview clips, and on mobile a sticky footer shows how many clips are selected and how many remain.
  6. Arrange clips
Match clips to the list sections. We handle timing.
  7. Caption style
Pick how captions look and move, with portrait framing handled automatically; optionally add background music.
  8. Review and render
Render the video. Once it starts, pick a generated title and review the description. After it finishes, download or render again.

One-click create (optional)

On Step 1, you can choose One-click create to make a List Video automatically.

To keep it truly one click, the optional settings are hidden at first. Click Options (the tune icon) if you want to change anything.

  • List type (optional) — facts, tips, jokes, trivia, myths, and more.
  • Subcategory (optional) — appears after you choose a list type.
  • Topic prompt (optional) — leave blank and we pick a topic for you.
  • Add 2 AI comment prompts (optional, default on) — turn this off if you want script items only. These are short lines that ask viewers to comment.
  • Voice (optional) — Adam is the default. You can pick another voice and press play to preview it.
  • Number of items (optional) — 10 by default.
  • Voice speed and remove long pauses (optional) — recommended for short videos.
  • Music (optional) — choose a track in a modal with search, mood filters, favorites, and upload.
  • Background clips — we automatically pick ASMR clips for the hook and each item.
  • Preview only (optional) — stops before the final render so you can render later.

You will also see an Estimated cost before you start.

After you start One-click create, we send you to My Library and show progress. It usually takes about 10 minutes.

API (for developers)

You can also create List Videos with an API call:

  • POST /api/v1/list/videos — start a List Video
  • GET /api/v1/list/videos/{video_id} — check status and get a temporary download link when ready

See Video API docs for API key, polling, and webhooks.
