If You Can Read This, Don’t Get CDL: Amusing Back of Truck Message Goes Viral

A recent image shared on Reddit has garnered significant attention, featuring the back of a large truck with a cheeky message scrawled on its dirty surface. The image, titled "I don't think this driver likes his job too much!" captures a metallic greyish truck door, complete with three large metal hinges, a horizontal support bar, red and white reflective strips, and lights at the bottom right corner.

What makes this image especially intriguing is the message written in the grime: "If you can read this don't get CDL." CDL stands for Commercial Driver's License, implying that those who can read the message may not be cut out for the challenging profession of truck driving.

Reddit users have flooded the post with their thoughts and humorous takes. One user commented, "I’ve known a lot of truckers and they all claim to make insane money, but then they also claim to hate the job and they don’t get paid enough. I’ve never met a profession that claims to be so rich and so poor at the same time lol." This sentiment seems to resonate with many, reflecting the dichotomy of the trucking profession.

Another user, perhaps a seasoned driver, wryly noted, "You guys are overthinking this. It's hard to read unless you get really close. If you are driving that close then you're a bad driver who shouldn't get a commercial driver's license (CDL). Imagine having an 18-wheeler tailgating you. It's so dangerous."

The message also sparked a bit of career advice humor with a user quipping, "When your truck gives better career advice than your guidance counselor…"

Truck driving indeed has its challenges, as echoed in another comment: "Waiting for loads, then waiting to unload. Both can take forever, meanwhile you’re working for free at that point. Sitting in a giant parking lot that smells of u**** during the hot summer months. Your company decided that idling the truck is costing money, so either you don’t run the A/C and sweat or they throttle your max driving speed to 60 mph. My favorite loads would be a drop and hook… but when you drop they have no empties and they want you to hunt one down in order to get your load home. Again working for free. Manager treat you like trash, because they can replace you and place the blame on you."

Some users even drew parallels with other professions, with one stating, "Same with IT," highlighting that job dissatisfaction and the struggle for fair compensation are not unique to trucking.

The humorous, yet poignant message on the back of the truck has sparked a conversation about the realities of the trucking profession, blending humor with a hint of truth about the daily grind and challenges faced by truckers. Whether it's a call for better working conditions or just a lighthearted jab at tailgaters, this viral image has certainly struck a chord with many.

You guys are over thinking this. It's hard to read unless you get really close.  If you are driving that close then you're a bad driver who shouldn't get a commercial driver's license (CDL).  Imagine having an 18 wheeler tail gating you.  It's so dangerous.

I think he's maybe saying that people tailgating him shouldn't drive for a living? But maybe it is just general life advice...?
