A thought-provoking tweet by April Ajoy has ignited a heated discussion on social media, drawing attention to the contrasting lessons taught by drag queens and the church. April Ajoy, known by her Twitter handle @aprilajoyr, shared a powerful message that has resonated with many.

In her tweet, April Ajoy states, "Drag Queens taught me my worth is in just being my authentic self. The Church taught me my worth was in my virginity at the wedding altar. Which one of these sounds more like sexualizing?" The tweet, written in white text on a black background, is accompanied by a profile picture of Ajoy, a woman with long hair visible from the shoulders up.

The tweet has sparked a wave of reactions from users across the platform, with many sharing their perspectives on the issue. One commenter noted, "I don't think it ever occurred to Christians that maybe, just maybe, having an invisible sky daddy watch me m********* then punish me for it might be a huge turn on for me." Another user added, "I know a few drag queens. They don't have sex in drag. It's almost like one isn't tied to the other."

The conversation further delved into the broader implications of religious teachings. "Just going to say it, if you believe in an invisible man watching every single action you (and the rest of the ~8 billion people on this planet - at the same time!) take just in case you have sex that doesn't fit exactly with their very narrowly defined 'acceptability', and if you are found to have 'broken their rules' you are then treated to the worst punishment anyone in that religion can think of, and to suffer that for eternity? Yeah.. that s***, all that s***... it's f***ing weird," expressed another user.

The debate also touched on the church's approach to control and morality. "A Protestant once told me that they were taught they’d always fail every day in the eyes of God, so their passion was to try and please him in everything they did and say. Sooooo gaslighting I guess…" commented one user. Another added, "Looks like the Church doesn't know the Bible, where Jesus hung out with p*********s and valued them over the pompous clergy."

While some users acknowledge the benefits of religion, they also criticize its restrictive nature. "I get that religion is a benefit to many people, but the simple fact is, I don't believe it...at all. So I don't care what their rules are, and I don't care what their opinions are, and I certainly don't care for them trying to tell other people how to live. That's between them and their God. Full stop," one person wrote.

The tweet by April Ajoy has undoubtedly struck a chord, prompting many to reflect on their own experiences with religious teachings and the freedom to express their authentic selves. As the debate continues, it remains clear that this conversation is far from over, with voices on both sides contributing to a broader understanding of identity, self-worth, and the impact of societal norms.

Drag queens teach people to be comfortable in their own skin, be who they are, and stand up to bullying. The church doesn't like that. They want kids to learn to be quiet and follow orders. To hide all the bad stuff that happens, and keep up the Normal Rockwell appearance that everything is fine.

I was around 7 when I realized that Santa is not real, and then another 5-6 years to realize that my religion is actual mass-delusion...like Santa for adults.
