Foxtails may seem like a harmless part of nature, but their impact on pets can be severe. In a compelling and eye-opening video titled "Watch out for those Foxtails," viewers are given a front-row seat to the painstaking process of removing these pesky grass seeds from a dog's fur.

The video begins with a gentle voice reassuring a distressed dog, "Oh buddy, oh buddy, I know I got it. There's more in there. More? Poor doodle." The scene captures the intense discomfort these foxtails cause, as the dog tries to remain calm while the foxtails are carefully extracted. The situation escalates with the exclamation, "Oh my good gracious. It is way back in here. Okay, got it, got it, got it, got it. Two!" This illustrates just how deeply embedded these barbed seeds can get.

Users who have watched the video share their own harrowing experiences in the comments. One user recalls, "Yup. I've pulled foxtails out of eyes, ears, noses, tonsils, between the toes, from a*** glands, from random abscess in the skin, from prepuces and v****s. They get EVERYWHERE and cause much misery. Most I ever pulled out of one dog at one time was somewhere in the twenties." This comment highlights the widespread and invasive nature of foxtails.

Another user humorously notes, "Things my dog doesn't like in her fur: foxtails. Things my dog sticks her whole face in: foxtails." This sums up the paradoxical attraction and aversion pets have towards these troublesome seeds.

The issue isn't confined to a single region. A user from Greece mentions, "Here in Greece we got the same but a bit smaller (its wild grass thing). They still get between the paws and slowly burrow further, also get into the ears/nose etc. I check my doggo daily." This underscores the global nature of the foxtail problem.

Some viewers were initially confused about the video content. One comment reads, "I was totally expecting a Fox's tail to come out..." while another adds, "At first I thought it was an insect.. :o." This confusion is a testament to the surprising and often misunderstood nature of foxtails.

The video serves as a stark reminder of the importance of regularly checking pets for foxtails, especially during certain seasons. One user shares a personal anecdote, "Yup, had one burrow it’s way into my dog's jaw and formed an abscess. He was not a happy puppy, neither was my bank account." This highlights not only the physical pain for pets but also the financial burden on pet owners.

Ultimately, this video is a must-watch for pet owners everywhere. It brings to light the hidden dangers of foxtails and offers a sobering look at why these seemingly innocuous grass seeds should be taken seriously. The shared experiences and advice from other pet owners further emphasize the need for vigilance and proactive care.

For anyone interested in learning more about foxtails and their impact on pets, this video is an invaluable resource.

My dog ate one once, it burrowed into his cheek and exploded out the top of his head. Had to get it surgically removed. These things s***!
