A recent video on Imgur titled "Secret Hitler is a great game, but yeah..." showcases a humorous and somewhat awkward encounter at a local board game shop. The storyteller recounts their visit to the shop, asking if they carried the game "Secret Hitler." The response from the shopkeeper was a flat denial, claiming, "We don't have games associated with Hitler or N***s." This led to a series of humorous misunderstandings where the shopper felt judged as if they liked Hitler, which couldn't be further from the truth.

The video details the ensuing chaos as the narrator attempts to explain the rules of "Secret Hitler" to the increasingly skeptical audience in the store. The game involves players drawing cards, one of whom secretly assumes the role of Hitler, while the others try to identify and eliminate him. The irony is that the game is designed to be anti-Hitler, yet the narrator's efforts to clarify this only deepened the suspicion among the onlookers.

"Secret Hitler" has garnered comparisons to other social deduction games like "Werewolf" and "Mafia." One comment humorously noted, "Sounds like Werewolf, but with Hitler." Others suggested that the game shines in larger groups, allowing players to find a groove before the game concludes. For those unfamiliar with the game, a user shared a link to photos, offering a visual glimpse of what the game looks like.

Many found the story's premise amusing but doubted its authenticity, given the game's popularity among board game enthusiasts. As one user put it, "You can tell the story is completely made up because Secret Hitler is one of the most well-known recent party games."

Another comment highlighted the humorous potential of the game, suggesting, "Sounds like an easy game to win, whoever is****ler flips the board over shouts 'zis is not unt game' and shoot everyone." This lighthearted take exemplifies the comedic allure that "Secret Hitler" brings to game nights.

The game's open-source nature has led to various adaptations, including a Batman-themed version called "Almost Got 'im" and a Star Wars-themed "Secret Sith." Despite these alternatives, "Secret Hitler" remains a favorite for its unique blend of strategy and humor.

Interestingly, the game has even made its way into educational settings. One user shared, "Secret Hitler is awesome. I play it with my ESL-students. (they're bad at it)." This anecdote underscores the game's broad appeal and versatility.

The video ultimately sparked a lively discussion about the game, its mechanics, and its place in popular culture. From humorous retellings to critiques of the story's plausibility, the video proved to be a hit among viewers, further cementing "Secret Hitler" as a must-try party game.

Sounds like Werewolf, but with Hitler.

It's a game that works best with larger groups. Smaller groups don't seem to get a long enough chance to find a groove before the game run's it's course.

You can tell the story is completely made up because Secret Hitler is one of the most well known recent party games and there's no way a shop that specializes in board games wouldn't know about it. It'd be more believable if he said he went to a book store or something that caters to a more general audience.

When the inventor was asked how they came up with the idea got the game they said: Well, I was on my way to this gay Gypsy bar mitzvah for the disabled when I suddenly thought "Gosh, the Third R****'s a bit r******. I think I'll kill the Fuehrer." Who's with me?

This game is super fun. We like to make up a fascist policy just for fun, when playing a fascist card, such as “everyone must eat ice-cream on Fridays - forever” or for a liberal policy card “free ice-cream on Fridays!” We really like ice-cream.
