A touching video titled "Just two old friends" has recently gone viral on Imgur, showcasing the beautiful bond between an elderly man and his dog. The video captures a tender moment that has resonated deeply with viewers, drawing in a flood of heartfelt comments.

One user reminisced about an elderly neighbor who had a large, aging St. Bernard. Every day, the neighbor would back up their truck to the deck, use a ramp to load the dog, and drive him around the block so he could enjoy the breeze with his nose in the air. This anecdote highlights the lengths to which pet owners go to ensure their furry friends' happiness and comfort.

Another viewer shared a personal story about their older German Shepherd Dogs (GSD), aged 11 and nearly 14. They explained that while ramps were helpful, their dog preferred stairs for better footing. Their love for their elderly pets echoes the sentiments in the video, where the elderly man's care for his dog is evident.

The video evoked a mix of emotions among viewers. One person commented that it made them feel both melancholy and happy, while another expressed sorrow for their own beloved golden retriever who had passed away. The sense of loss and joy intertwined in the video is something many pet owners can relate to.

Curiosity about the conversation between the man and his dog was another common theme. One user mentioned they would pay to know what was said, reflecting the deep connection and communication shared between humans and their pets.

The video also sparked a broader discussion on the community's role in such sweet moments. Some users questioned the ethics of filming and posting the video online without the man's consent, while others suggested offering help instead of merely watching.

Additionally, practical advice was shared among pet owners. One comment detailed how carpet squares were glued to a ramp to provide better grip for an older border collie. Another user mentioned the challenges of using a foldable dog ramp and the potential hazards it posed.

Overall, the video "Just two old friends" serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring bond between humans and their pets. It has inspired viewers to reflect on their own experiences with elderly pets and the care and love that goes into maintaining these precious relationships.

I used to have an elderly neighbor who had a huge old St. Bernard who couldn't go for long walks anymore so every day they would back their truck up to the deck and load that big boy in on a ramp and drive him around the block a few times while he lay in the back with his nose in the air.

We have some older GSD ourselves, one is 11, and the other is about to turn 14. If you're unaware of GSD lifespans, 14 is the equivalent of a human being 109. We had one of those ramps, but we found she really preferred the stairs, provided better footing. But we use them heavily, cuz she does still love to get out!

My neighbour carried his collie around their usual walk for months. I feel so sad when I see him walking alone now

As of this year, our 12+ yo border collie has now gotten to the point she needs a ramp. Fortunately, we’ve been training her for this.
