In a world where police interactions can often escalate to dangerous levels, a whimsical video has surfaced, shedding light on the unique and humorous policing style of Irish Gardaí. The video, titled "So freaking true!! Lmfao," has captivated audiences with its portrayal of Irish police officers who, instead of guns, wield sticks and wit to maintain law and order.

The video begins with a humorous observation about the adorable yet effective tactics used by the Gardaí. Despite the presence of gangs, knives, and even the IRA, Irish police rely on their skillful use of words and guilt to disarm situations. One memorable line from the video is when a Garda offers a cigarette to a would-be robber, saying, "Can you not?" The unexpected politeness and casual approach leave the criminal mortified, highlighting the stark contrast to more aggressive policing methods seen elsewhere.

This comedic take on Irish policing has resonated deeply with viewers. One user related to the phrase "Can you not?" humorously comparing it to a cat clawing their leg for attention. Another praised the comedian's ability to capture the audience's reaction and make it their own, emphasizing the importance of comedy in reflecting societal truths.

The video's discussion extends beyond Ireland, drawing comparisons to policing in Scotland and Minnesota. With Scotland's low police shooting statistics, users highlighted the effectiveness of non-lethal enforcement, contrasting it with the higher incidence of police shootings in Minnesota. One user shared a personal story from Dublin, where a lone Garda successfully convinced armed robbers to surrender, emphasizing the power of persuasive policing.

However, not all comments were lighthearted. Some users criticized the Gardaí, calling them "fascist enabling" and sharing personal experiences of inadequate responses to threats and assaults. These contrasting views sparked a broader discussion on the role and perception of police forces worldwide.

The video also sparked reflections on gun culture in different countries. While countries like Canada and Scotland have strict firearm regulations, the United States' identity deeply intertwines with gun ownership. Users debated the consequences of this cultural difference, with some suggesting that America's love for guns stems from a lack of firsthand understanding of violence's devastating impact.

One particularly poignant comment recalled the 2018 Toronto van attack, where a suspect attempted to provoke a police shooting. Instead, the officer de-escalated the situation by putting away his gun and using a baton, leading to the suspect's surrender. This story underscored the notion that the fear of pain, rather than death, can be a more effective deterrent.

In a lighter vein, users shared humorous insights into Irish culture, such as the advice against serving an Irish person a shot of Bailey's and Jameson in a half pint of Guinness. The video also inspired fond memories of the phrase "What would your ma say?" which many found delightfully relatable.

This viral video has not only entertained but also sparked important conversations about policing styles, gun culture, and societal values. It serves as a reminder of the power of humor in highlighting serious issues and the diverse ways in which different cultures approach law enforcement.

For more whimsical and thought-provoking content, be sure to watch the video and join the discussion on how policing can be both effective and humane.

Same with Scotland. For a population of 5.5 million we have almost 70 000 registered rifles and shotguns, Minnesota with a similar population has 130 000 registered firearms. So far this year Minnesota police have shot dead 8 people. Scottish police have shot dead 2 people in their entire history, one in 1969 and one in 2020, both were shot while attempting to kill multiple people.

Great way of catching the audience reaction and making it your own. (I'm not being sarcastic, that is impressive.)

Nope, the Gardaí are still fascist enabling c***s, don't make em cute. My wife works in a library and has literally received death threats only to be told there's nothing they can do, her colleagues have been assaulted, in front of guards and received nothing but a shrug, they E*****ED violent fascists into libraries to harass staff. But they will happily kick your head in if you try to stop an illegal eviction. ACAB

First place my mind went was "What would your ma say," so I was glad when that came up at the end.

Used to live in Dublin and sometimes between 2001 and 2003, I remeber sreading about a robbery that had just taken place. Two guys holding someone at gunpoint with a shotgunand stealing I think 20k euros that they knew he was carrying. So long story short a lone garda chased them on foot until he convinced them to surrender. Compared to the much publicized US where you get shot for standing in your own apartment, or even my native France where you get yelled at for driving you car late at night,
