Have you ever wondered if it's possible to create a new finger using a 3D printer? Well, wonder no more! In a remarkable video that has been making waves across social media, an MIT professor showcases their incredible DIY project of 3D printing a new finger.

The story begins six years ago when the professor unfortunately lost their little finger in a table saw accident. Determined to find a solution, they embarked on a journey to create a finger that not only looked realistic but also had the ability to bend, just like in the classic movie "E.T." To achieve this, the professor utilized a 3D printer and a collection of tiny construction pieces.

The process, as it turns out, was much easier than one might expect. With the availability of 3D files online for free, the professor was able to create a prototype that showed promising results. However, due to having small fingers, the initial design didn't fit perfectly. Undeterred, they continued refining their creation.

Version 2 of the finger proved to be a significant improvement. The professor attached it to a glove, which enhanced the overall fit. Yet, they still encountered challenges with achieving the desired bending motion and perfect aesthetics. However, perseverance paid off, and the final version was an absolute success.

The professor managed to print a finger that fit flawlessly and incorporated a clever string mechanism to ensure precise bending. To add an extra touch of brilliance, they even included an LED light, giving the finger a futuristic and cyberpunk feel. To complete the look, the professor painted the finger in a chrome metal color, making it truly eye-catching.

The video has garnered immense attention, with commenters expressing their admiration for the professor's ingenuity and creativity. One user even mentioned that the professor's channel is among their favorites, highlighting the consistent quality of their content.

In the comment section, there were inquiries about the details of the table saw accident, with individuals curious to know more about the professor's journey. Others commended the professor's resilience and shared their own personal experiences with finger injuries.

The professor's channel, called Nerdforge and run by Martina and Hansi, is known for its captivating and innovative projects. This latest endeavor, dubbed "Cyberpinky" by one commenter, adds to their impressive repertoire.

So, if you're in awe of the professor's incredible creation or simply fascinated by the world of 3D printing, make sure to check out their channel for more inspiring projects. Remember, with determination and a little bit of technology, we truly have the power to overcome any challenge!

I think I remember her saying in the full version of the video that she spent months in the hospital as they tried to save her little finger. I legit panicked in American then remembered she's from one of those godless, communist Scandinavian countries that takes care of its people and she probably wasn't bankrupted from an accident.
