My friend buys old fridges like this and puts modern compressors and such in them. Coolest thing he did was put his industrial fridge in his kitchen while relocating the compressor in the basement below.

I bet it pulls ~900W when the compressor kicks in.

Alright! Things to watch out for if this tickles your pickle: Asbestos. Really, that's the worst one. It might be in the insulation, might be in the wiring's insulation... They loved those asbestos before everyone got white lung. I don't know if an old compressor could handle a modern refrigerant, but be careful if you start rooting around in one of these old boys to refurbish it.

Its only the things that lasted that are kept around. Plenty of stuff didnt make it from those years too :/

Oh, there was plenty of stuff made not to last in those times ...

I mean, sure, but they were also huge, super expensive, very energy inefficient, and fundamentally not very good at the job. Survivorship bias is real but it's also easy to forget exactly why those that didn't survive, didn't. A whole lot of old stuff went in the bin while still perfectly functional, but still absolutely outmoded and not worth keeping.
