Being born in '75, Pedro revealed that he was a true product of the Star Wars imagination and was shaped by these movies. The anticipation grew as Pedro wondered which character he would audition for, questioning whether it would be the bug or the robot. To his surprise, John revealed that Pedro would be none other than the Mandalorian himself.

I'm a bit torn with how much this role is completely attributed to Pedro, when he's been mostly just a voice actor for the character. Iirc, a lot of the times when Mando is on screen, with helmet on, it's actually Brendan Wayne performing, or the stunt man Lateef Crowder.
