In the world of social media, discussions about gender identity and religion can often lead to heated debates and conflicting opinions. A recent image shared on a platform similar to Facebook has sparked such a conversation, highlighting the clash between traditional beliefs and the acceptance of diverse gender ident*****.

The image consists of two screenshots capturing a conversation between users, with the focus on a commenter named Martha. In the left screenshot, Martha expresses her strong opposition to the term "cis," claiming that there are only two genders. This statement immediately draws attention and sparks a flurry of responses from other users.

One user highlights the contradiction in Martha's argument, pointing out that even if there were only two genders, it wouldn't invalidate transgenderism. Martha, in response, agrees with this point, but stands firm in her belief that there are only two genders. To support her stance, she quotes a biblical verse, Genesis 1:27: "'So GOD created man in HIS Own Image; in the image of GOD HE created him; male and female HE created them.'" She concludes by stating that this is "pretty straightforward stuff."

The right screenshot captures another comment from Martha where she reiterates her belief that acknowledging only two genders does not invalidate transgenderism. She also warns others not to argue with her on this matter. In response, a user quotes a different biblical verse, 1 Timothy 2:11-12, which states that women should learn in quietness and full submission, implying that Martha should not be engaging in such debates.

The conversation depicted in the image demonstrates the clash between religious beliefs and the acceptance of gender diversity. It raises questions about how individuals interpret religious texts and whether they can coexist with modern understandings of gender identity. Many users in the comment section express frustration with individuals who selectively quote religious texts to justify their own biases or prejudices.

The discussion also highlights the importance of education and open-mindedness when engaging in debates about sensitive topics. Some users emphasize the need to consider the full context of religious texts and to understand that gender is a complex and multifaceted concept. They cite verses such as Galatians 3:28, which states, "There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus," as evidence that gender is not a binary construct.

While this image and the ensuing conversation may have ignited passionate responses from users, it serves as a reminder of the ongoing dialogue surrounding gender identity and religion. It urges individuals to approach these discussions with empathy, respect, and a willingness to learn from different perspectives. Only through open dialogue and understanding can we hope to bridge the gaps between tradition, faith, and the ever-evolving understanding of gender identity in our society.

Organized religion is cancer

It’s wild to me people who follow the Bible and use passages to argue their positions completely ignore other parts of the Bible like it doesn’t exist. Same goes for anyone arguing conspiracies. If the source you have is credible, you can’t ignore it if it doesn’t support your opinion. Doing so is ignorant and harmful.

I'm lost from the very beginning. Aren't "cis" genders the textbook man and woman these people claim are the only things that exist?

Using the bible for anything that involves science or biology is an incredibly dense move.

Why didn't you tell them that if it was true that there were only two genders, then it would mean that everyone is a "cis". So their *hiss* isn't about the word cis, it's that transgenders exist.

If being gay/trans is against god's will, then why isn't god doing anything about them? The fact that god isn't doing something means one of three things, he cant do anything because he isn't all powerful as they claim, he doesn't exist, or he doesn't actually care about them. Take your pick. Also any god that would punish you just because a gay person existed or you happened to serve them, is a s***ty f***ing god.

There is no reason for the Christian God to have a biological sex - they don't sexually reproduce. And what would be the purpose of gender for an omnipotent being?? Imagining there is such a being, those concepts are so very... human.

Eve started out as a male, if I recall.

Galatians 3:26-29 So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, *nor is there male and female,* for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. Oops, guess the Bible says God doesn't care what your gender is. Try again, transphobes.
