In a viral video that has been making the rounds on social media, a shocking experiment has been conducted to demonstrate the importance of purchasing a high-quality helmet. The video, titled "You have to purchase a helmet wisely," highlights the potential dangers of opting for a cheap helmet and the impact it can have on your safety.

The video begins with a demonstration of two helmets, one of which is a lower quality, inexpensive option, while the other is a higher quality, more expensive one. The helmets are placed on the ground, and a car is driven over them to simulate the force of impact in an accident.

As the car rolls over the helmets, the stark difference between the two becomes evident. While the high-quality helmet withstands the pressure and remains intact, the cheap helmet is completely crushed, offering little to no protection. This powerful visual serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of compromising on safety.

The comments section of the video further emphasizes the importance of investing in a reliable helmet. Users express their concerns about the lack of regulations on imported safety products and share their own experiences with subpar helmets. One comment even highlights the dangers of purchasing a "DOT Approved" motorcycle helmet for a mere $60, emphasizing that such helmets can be extremely dangerous.

Others raise valid questions about the testing methodology and the relevance of the demonstration. Some users argue that the foam inside the helmet is what truly matters, while others suggest alternative scenarios for testing the helmet's effectiveness.

Despite the differing opinions, one thing remains clear: when it comes to protecting your head, quality should never be compromised. As one comment wisely states, "Dress for the crash, not the ride." It's crucial to prioritize safety over price and ensure that the helmet you choose meets the necessary safety standards.

While the video may not provide a comprehensive analysis of all helmet aspects, it serves as a powerful reminder that a cheap helmet may not offer the level of protection needed in an accident. So, if you're a rider or someone who participates in activities that require a helmet, make sure to invest in a high-quality option that can potentially save your life.

The video highlights the importance of choosing a helmet wisely and not compromising on safety. Don't be fooled by low prices or false claims of quality. Remember, your life is worth more than saving a few bucks. Stay safe and make the right choice when it comes to protecting your head.

And make sure you wear it!

Same test with a wooly hat: not a scratch on it!

This s*** right here is why we need better oversight/regulations on imported 'safety' products. (among other things) You can go Amazon right now and buy a "DOT Approved" motorcycle hemet for $60, and it's dangerous as hell. Dudes used to show up with stuff like this for downhill sessions (longboarding) and we'd have to convince them that they were tricked into buying garbage, then explain what a REAL helmet actually costs and why it costs so much. /pet peeve rant

Where's the mannequin head that is used for showing the potential damage?

TwoBitGreaser

If your head is getting run over in that position, you are already dead.

I don’t think that’s the scenario the helmet was created for

Do they both have the same Snell rating?

This is misleading at best. It is the foam in a helmet that is important. The outer shell not so much. The human body can only take so much of a direct impact and anything more than that is not useful. Try reading, blowing the lid off. An article that explains the physics of a helmet and what is important in helmet components

Okay, yeah obviously buy a good helmet, but that cheap helmet was clearly run over more than once, and spray painted between them. That white isn't primer. Nobody uses white primer, especially when the finished product is going to be black.
