Have you ever wanted to channel your inner superhero and upgrade your own Spider-Man suit? Well, you're in luck! In this video, talented costume maker Jen Markham shows us how she transformed a mass-manufactured Spider-Man Raimi suit into something extraordinary for just over $50.

First things first, Jen had to make some adjustments to the suit, which was originally sized for men. She took it in on the sides to achieve a better fit and also made alterations to the mask. While she plans to 3D print a face shell in the future, she used a simple $1 dust mask as a temporary solution.

Next, Jen stretched out the suit on a piece of cardboard and pinned it in place. She then mixed black puff paint and liquid latex together, creating a raised dimensional effect. With a metal-tipped applicator bottle, she carefully traced all over the lines on the suit and mask. This meticulous process took a lot longer than she anticipated, but the end result was well worth the effort.

To add an extra touch of detail, Jen used a silver sharpie to draw down the center of the paint lines, creating a stunning metallic effect. The combination of the raised dimensional look and the silver accents truly brought the suit to life.

But the suit isn't complete without the perfect pair of shoes. Jen decided to repurpose $3 water shoes by seam ripping the uppers off and placing the insoles inside the feet. She then glued the soles to the outside of the suit using E6000 adhesive, ensuring a secure and durable attachment.

The final step was to trace and create the iconic spider emblem on the front of the suit. Jen used a $1 piece of craft foam, which she sealed over a stove burner to give it a plasticky appearance. After cutting out the pattern and gluing it in place, she marveled at the subtle yet impactful upgrade she had achieved.

The video garnered a lot of attention and sparked some interesting discussions among viewers. One user commented on the importance of looking good in a body suit, highlighting the confidence it brings. Another user pointed out that the webbing lines on the suit looked even more impressive in person, especially at conventions where many Spider-Man cosplayers gather.

Of course, there were some playful comments as well. One user jokingly asked about the existence of a "pee hole" in the suit, while another wondered if it had any hidden pockets. These lighthearted remarks added a humorous touch to the conversation.

Overall, Jen's DIY Spider-Man suit project served as an inspiration for those who want to embrace their creativity and unleash their inner superhero. With just a few simple adjustments and some affordable materials, anyone can upgrade their own Spider-Man suit and stand out from the crowd. So, grab your sewing machine, unleash your can-do attitude, and get ready to swing into action with your very own Spider-Man masterpiece!

But where’s the pee hole?

It barely shows in the video, but if you've ever been at a con where lots of people are dressed like spider-man, you know that having the webbing lines look 3d REALLY adds a lot when you see it in person.
