Have you ever walked the streets of Oklahoma City and noticed something fascinating beneath your feet? Well, prepare to be amazed because the manhole covers in this city are not your ordinary ones. They are adorned with intricate maps that provide a unique and informative touch to the urban landscape.

In a viral tweet from the verified Twitter account "Yup That Exists," the captivating discovery of these decorative manhole covers was shared with the world. The tweet reveals, "The manhole covers in Oklahoma City have a map on them with a little white dot that shows you where you are." This revelation has sparked awe and curiosity among netizens.

The image that accompanies the tweet showcases two photographs of these exquisite manhole covers side by side. On the left, we see one of the covers situated on a street, surrounded by grey paving bricks. The right image offers a close-up view of a similar manhole cover, highlighting the intricate details of the relief map.

These remarkable manhole covers feature a detailed representation of city streets, blocks, and even individual buildings, creating a rich texture that adds a touch of street art to the city's infrastructure. The relief map is framed by a raised border with text, although the complete legibility of the text is obscured in the image. However, the main attraction lies at the center of each cover—a small white dot. This dot serves as a visual indicator of your precise location in relation to the map on the manhole cover, allowing you to navigate the city streets with ease.

The rustic, brownish hue of the manhole covers adds a historical and artistic charm, hinting at the city's rich heritage and commitment to blending functionality with beauty. These unique covers are more than just practical infrastructure; they are hidden treasures waiting to be discovered by observant pedestrians.

The social media response to this fascinating revelation has been a mix of awe, humor, and curiosity. Some users expressed their desire to explore Oklahoma City, while others shared amusing anecdotes and observations. One user noted, "Sadly, it turns out that if you see one, you're always in Oklahoma City somewhere." Another user humorously suggested, "Do they have the maps on the bottom of them too? That would be convenient if you're stuck in the sewers."

While some comments added a touch of lightheartedness to the conversation, others praised the intricate design of the manhole covers. One user exclaimed, "I would gladly hang one of those on my wall. Handsome!" Another user shared their admiration for the detailed maps, mentioning, "Helps me and my gang of Adolescent Radioactive Karate Terrapins get around, that's for sure."

These decorative manhole covers not only serve as practical tools for navigation but also add a unique charm to the city of Oklahoma City. Whether you're a local resident or a visitor, keep an eye out for these hidden gems beneath your feet. The secret is that if you take this manhole cover to another city and install it, if you stand on it, you're transported to that spot in Oklahoma City. Be careful that you put a new manhole cover where the old one was, or you'll probably hurt yourself falling into the OKC sewer system.

I was checking the manhole map, when I got hit by a car

My new life quest is to switch every manhole cover in St. Louis with one from across town. Well, not really. That would be mean and a whole lot of work. I bet those things weigh like 100lbs each. I bet someone probably did it at least once though. Maybe.

I hope these are found in the sidewalk, not only in the street.
