I’ve been reading a book about the history of textiles and that weaving was the (an?) original binary code. The warp threads are either up or down and the order of which ones are up/down makes intricate patterns. Loom developers also invented the punch card system used in early computing to mechanize which warp threads were raised and used little metal beads to automate thread selection.

As an IT professional of 8 years who primarily supports engineering devs: programmers can fix a home printer. I'm not even sure I can fix a fleet corporate printer half the time without a decent amount of luck and a goat to sacrifice.

As a DW-developer, ingesting data from apps with dedicated databases is a nightmare, because app-developers have no f****** clue how data works and their backend is a c********** of incompetens and idiocy. I've worked against 1 app that had a properly setup database in the background, so it took 2-3 days to ingest and build a datamodel against it, the rest take ages.
