I prefer monthly coursework estimations, 24 months for FAA commercial pilot certification, 12 months for barber certification, 5 months for police academy certification...

Commercial pilots need a certain amount of flying hours, but on top of that there's loads of ground school, simulation training, aircraft-type specific training. And then you fly with a more experienced captain.

Ok I hear you on the pilots license but cops have the advantage of having the predisposition to being a b****** before they start training.

In Ontario, an electrician needs almost 10,000 hours to become licensed

Pilot here. I'm not flying commercial in the left hand seat without 1500 hours minimum. The training is extensive as any other technically demanding role.

Well true but commercial pilots also get hours upon hours of training on the specific plane for endors****ts. And IFR training which is also pricy af

The commercial isn't true. I started the school process but had a medical issue that didn't allow me to continue. After the 40/50 to get your private it's 1500 experience hours before an airline will pick you up

Note to self: Don't get a haircut from a cop.

FYI - “commercial” pilots can except payment. However, pilots flying passengers for the airlines require an “Airline Transport Pilot” certificate which requires 1500 hours and multiple specialized training programs. It takes years; they are competitively hired; there are routine performance tests; they spend years as the “First Pilot” under a “Captains direct supervision. Commercial pilots might take you sightseeing or skydiving.

That's not 250 hours of school. That's 250 hours of in-field experience on top of school.
