What gives with the ordering of this list of states? Why are montana and virginia out of alphabetical order? It isn't because they have a huge number of kids like the first three, arizona georgia illinois indiana new york and ohio all have way more and should be out of order as well if it was a numbers issue. ( side note: I love how florida's number is the only one that is a perfect round number. Not sketchy as f*** at all florida, nope, nobody cooking the books in florida, nuh uh )

You have a very good point, but the vast majority of kids in foster care are not adoptable or available to adopt for one reason or another.

My sister adopted 2 kids. The costs are baffling. I understand there are costs with everything, but if the entry barrier were removed, surely more people would help carry the burden saving money over the long run?

As a former foster child I can confirm. At least in my experience I had more than one family that had multiple bunk beds to fit more kids in for checks from the state. My last placement was with a case worker that also did foster care and I don't know how she did it by herself

A bunch of kids waiting to be adopted. Adoption is prohibitively expensive for most. Seems a little supply and demand curve should fix that. (Hey I support abortions for all, but it seems adoption can really be fixed)
