Grant Imahara made Final Fantasy games?

TonyDM

Ironic that it was made in America and we didn’t get an official version for 16 years

I love what a s*** show early Japanese game development was. Capcom wanted to remake the NES horror movie tie-in game Sweet Home but no longer had the rights so they made Biohazard but couldn't use that name due to rights issues in the US and Resident Evil was born. Then the Elsa Walker RE2 was so bad it was scrapped completely and later RE4 went so far from the series survival horror roots that it became Devil May Cry and they made another RE4.

Nasir Gebelli was a rockstar programmer and according to some sources an actual Iranian prince who had to flee the country during the Iranian Revolution. He was such a w*** that Squaresoft had to tolerate a lot of his whims. He coded the FF1 ship minigame without anyone asking for it, because he felt like it. One of the earliest minigames in any RPG. Here's an impromptu interview with him at a John Romero party from back in 1998: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGzd7JRbxL0

Final Fantasy 3 (the actual 3, not FF6 with Terra and Locke) was one of the worst FF games though.

Huh. So THAT'S the infamous "Nasir" I see Secret of Mana was programmed by in the opening splash. Neat!
