Calvin Johnson, famously known as Megatron, recently opened up about the main reason behind his early retirement from the NFL. In a candid discussion on "The Pivot," Johnson revealed that the constant losing played a significant role in his decision to hang up his cleats after just nine seasons.

Johnson recalled a particularly harsh memory from the 2008 season when the Detroit Lions went 0-16. Sitting on the bench in Green Bay, with temperatures hovering between 0 and 10 degrees and snowflakes falling, he and his teammates questioned their futures in the league. The frustration and disappointment were palpable as they watched the clock wind down on another defeat. Johnson admitted, "All of us were dead serious like, bro, I don't know how long I want to do this for. That's how bad 0-16 was."

The star wide receiver emphasized that being on a perennial playoff team might have extended his career. "If you were on a perennial playoff team, would you have played longer?" he was asked. His response was definitive: "Yeah, 100%. Man, it was 100% losing. It didn't help."

This revelation sheds light on the emotional and psychological toll that constant losing can have on even the most talented athletes. Despite his impressive records and financial success, the strain of consistent defeats was too much for Johnson to bear.
