In a recent Reddit video titled "Also Raygun," the breakdancing prowess of Ms. Gunn, Australia's top-ranking breakdancer and a creative arts researcher at Macquarie University, has ignited a mix of admiration and bewilderment among viewers. The video features intriguing and unexpected dance moves that have led many to draw parallels with performance art, reminiscent of Andy Kaufman's wrestling antics.

Ms. Gunn, who holds a PhD and specializes in 'the cultural politics of breakdancing,' has been hailed for her consistency and dedication to the craft. One viewer humorously commented, "Elaine Benes would like a word," while another shared a personal anecdote about overcoming a lifelong embarrassment thanks to Raygun's performance: "In 1984 I was 6... Today that burden was lifted. Thank you Raygun for redeeming my horrible attempts at popping, locking, and the worm."

The video has also sparked discussions about the legitimacy and skill level of modern breakdancing. Some viewers were reminded of comedic moments, expecting Ricky Gervais to appear, or likening the scene to Bill Murray's tweet about regular people participating in Olympic events. One comment read, "Raygun is the closest thing we are going to get to the Bill Murray tweet 'Every Olympic event should include a regular person for reference.'"

Despite the mixed reactions, Ms. Gunn's expertise is undeniable. She, alongside high school student Jeff Dunne, known as 'J-Attack,' has represented Australia's hopes in becoming the first Olympic breaking champions. Comments varied from critiques of her technique to praises of her pioneering spirit in both breakdancing and academic research.

The video and its responses capture a fascinating intersection of art, sport, and academia, showcasing Ms. Gunn's unique contribution to the world of breakdancing. Whether viewed as performance art or a legitimate athletic endeavor, her work continues to spark conversation and challenge perceptions of what breakdancing can be.

This has to be performance art. Like when Andy Kaufman started wrestling women.

Well, she's consistent I'll give her that.

In 1984 I was 6. Yes, I’m old. My school had a carnival with a “breakdancing” room. For some reason I spent the next 40 years being embarrassed by my lack of skills in that room. Today that burden was lifted. Thank you Raygun for redeeming my horrible attempts at popping, locking, and the worm.

I keep expecting Ricky Gervais to pop out the corner and stare straight into the camera with a grin and knowing look. This can’t be real life.

Breakdancing or breaking dance?

Ms Gunn is, however, Australia's top-ranking breakdancer - and an expert researcher on breaking. She works for Sydney's Macquarie University as a creative arts researcher specialising in 'the cultural politics of breakdancing', and has a PhD. Alongside high school student Jeff Dunne - known as 'J-Attack' when competing - she carried Australia's hopes of becoming the first ever Olympic breaking champions on her shoulders.

Nothing against OP, but I keep seeing this s*** and I'm getting genuinely concerned that other people think this is actually good. Even as absurd as break-dancing is as a concept, this looks like c***. I've seen a crackhead dance battle a group of pigeons for half a hotdog, who had more talent than this.
