A recent Reddit video titled "A relaxing chiropractic procedure" has ignited a storm of controversy and concern among viewers. The video, featuring a woman undergoing a chiropractic adjustment, has garnered significant attention and has led to a heated discussion about the safety and efficacy of chiropractic practices.

In the video, the woman exclaims in Spanish, "¿Respira? ¡Wow, doctor! ¡Qué lindo me quedó la carita! ¡Puedo respirar mejor! ¡Gracias, eh!" translating to "Breathe? Wow, doctor! My face looks so beautiful! I can breathe better! Thank you!" Despite her positive reaction, not all viewers are convinced of the procedure's benefits.

One user shared a harrowing experience, stating, "I took care of two patients who both passed in the OR as a result of carotid dissection stemming from chiropractic manipulation. They bled to death and there was little we could do." This comment highlights the potential risks associated with chiropractic adjustments, especially those involving the neck.

Another user criticized the uniformity of treatments, noting, "Most of the chiropractor videos I see they do an assessment on the patient and then proceed to do the same things to every. single. person." This observation raises questions about the personalized care and diagnostic processes involved in chiropractic practice.

The discussion took a historical turn when a user provided context about the origins of chiropractic medicine, mentioning, "The founder of chiropractic, Daniel David Palmer (1845-1923), coined the phrase 'chiropractic religion' and believed it was based on a new theology that identified God with life force. Palmer was a spiritualist and mesmerist who claimed to have discovered chiropractic in 1895 after receiving 'communications' from the spirit of a deceased physician." This historical perspective was further explored in an episode of "Behind the B******s," featuring Billy Wayne Davis, which delves into how chiropractic medicine started as a ghost religion.

Skeptics were vocal, with one user commenting, "This was invented by a guy who thought cracking bones helped you speak to spirits. It's ridiculous." Another user echoed similar sentiments, calling it "Dangerous quackery" and labeling chiropractors as "modern-day witch doctors."

The debate extended to the impact of chiropractic procedures on animals, with one user lamenting, "There's so many dangerous idiots out there. The ones who do it to animals are the worst, like wtf are you doing pal. Snake oil."

Despite the controversy, some found humor in the video, with one user laughing at the use of a filter, saying, "This may be the first use of a filter I've seen that had me bust out laughing."

The video and ensuing comments underscore the polarized views on chiropractic care. While some individuals report relief and positive outcomes, others highlight the potential dangers and question the legitimacy of the practice. As with any medical treatment, it is crucial for individuals to conduct thorough research and consult with qualified healthcare professionals before undergoing any procedures.

I mean all chiropractors are evil cons, but the guys that put on a fake bone cracking show are the tip of the c***berg. It's quite telling when the only evidence supporting a practice is simply only anecdotes. Makin money offering non-solutions to people's suffering, all while knowing what you're doing is complete b*******. It's on par with ghost whisperers. How do they sleep?

"Chiropractic has roots in Western metaphysical religion and some chiropractors consider it to be a religion, while others consider it a science. The founder of chiropractic, Daniel David Palmer (1845-1923), coined the phrase "chiropractic religion" and believed it was based on a new theology that identified God with life force. Palmer was a spiritualist and mesmerist who claimed to have discovered chiropractic in 1895 after receiving "communications" from the spirit of a deceased physician. He also recommended that chiropractors build a boat similar to Christian Science, raise a religious flag, and claim to have received chiropractic from the other world. Palmer even considered introducing chiropractic as a religion, but ultimately described it as a combination of modern medicine and Christian Science." Behind the b******s has a really good episode on this, 'how chiropractic medicine started as a ghost religion.' Featuring Billy Wayne Davis.
