A recent image from an online shopping platform, possibly Amazon, has sparked an interesting debate among users. The image displays options for purchasing a glass kettle, with a peculiar difference in pricing for the same volume. Users have searched for "glass kettle for..." as seen in the search bar, revealing a comparison between a 1000 ml and 1 Ltr glass kettle.

The image shows the time (08:11) and indicates a full battery (100%) and strong WiFi connection at the top. Below the status bar, the search bar with a partial query "glass kettle for..." is visible, flanked by icons for a camera and a microphone. The product image depicts a glass kettle filled with a yellow-orange liquid, complete with a metal tea infuser.

The product details section presents two purchasing options:

1. **1000 ml New**:

- Price: ₹899.10 (originally ₹1,599.00)

- Prime benefits indicated

- Availability: "In stock"

- Delivery: "FREE Delivery Wednesday"

2. **1 Ltr**:

- Price: ₹599.00 (originally ₹999.00)

- Availability: "In stock"

Notably, the 1 Ltr option, highlighted in light blue, appears significantly cheaper than the 1000 ml New option, despite both representing the same volume.

Comments on the post ranged from confusion to humor, with users like MasterofMetricStuff joking, "Duh, the 1L is way way less than the 1,000 ml. Everybody wants the 1,000 not the 1 duh! Why isn't that obviously the betterer deal?" Some speculated about different sellers listing the items with varying data strings, thus affecting the price. Another user mentioned packaging differences as a potential reason for the disparity.

One comment humorously referenced past consumer misunderstandings, "Still remembered how 1/3 pounders patty burger can’t compete against 1/4 pounders patty burger because Americans think 1/4 pounders had more meat than 1/3 pounders."

The image also features a share icon below the product details and a tab labeled "Measurements" with a navigation bar at the bottom, showing icons for Home, You, More, Cart, and Menu.

This intriguing price discrepancy has not only highlighted potential issues with online listings but also provided a platform for light-hearted discussions and theories about consumer behavior.

I get the joke but is it even from the same seller? Being that one is prime and the other is not.

“1000 ml NEW” “1L”. Maybe not so new.

Lol maybe the 1000 mL is verified to more significant figures.

I think it’s more from Amazon taking it as a different size between two vendors. I have received fraudulent batteries through them so in usually careful about who I buy from.

Looks like the one I got at Walmart for $24.99

To play devil's advocate here, there could be actual reasons for this such as 1000mL and 1L being different sellers listing the item data differently. Amazon isn't actually converting volumes here to decide if they're the same amount or not, it's just reading string data from the listing. If it's different sellers with different listing data, they could be charging a different price. Another factor could be packaging. 1L could be cheaper because it's a single container whereas 1000mL could be that volume split among multiple containers. Even if the total volume is the same, more containers = more packaging cost and thus the price the consumer pays will be higher.

But is it new like the other 1L? 🤔 What about shipping price? I’ve seen some ridiculous shipping prices out there.
