The fast-food giant Chick-fil-A has recently updated its ordering process, and it has stirred up quite a bit of discussion among its patrons. The new signage in front of the restaurant emphasizes the use of mobile orders, reading, “USE MOBILE ORDERS” and reminding customers that the establishment is “CLOSED SUNDAY.” This change has sparked a variety of reactions from the community, highlighting both the benefits and drawbacks of switching to a mobile app-based system.

One user shared their positive experience with the new mobile order system, mentioning, “The Chick-fil-A near me recently renovated and added a drive-through line exclusively for mobile orders. Just drive up and scan a QR code. You don’t even have to talk to anyone until they give you your food. It is awesome.” This streamlined process seems to cater to those who are tech-savvy and prefer minimal interaction.

However, not everyone is onboard with this digital shift. Another comment pointed out the complications it brings, especially for those unfamiliar with the menu or technology: “They broke the drive-through ordering process. You would go to a menu screen/board and look what you want to eat. Now it’s a person that’s 30 feet away from the ordering menu and asks you what you would like to order and if you didn’t know what you wanted but knew you just wanted Chick-fil-A. They then direct you to drive up to the order board like you wanted to do in the first place and they act like you’re the incompetent person who has to look at a board to order. So it’s a different kind of situation when you have someone who’s 80 years old versus someone in their early 20s.”

Privacy concerns were also a hot topic among the comments, with one user expressing their frustration: “Yeah no. I hate this push to apps so they can sell all our information and track everything we do. Plus Chick-fil-A is too expensive these days.” This sentiment was echoed by others who are wary of data tracking and the potential risks associated with app usage.

Despite the mixed reactions, some customers remain loyal to Chick-fil-A for their food quality and perks offered through the mobile app. “Ordering online is the best way to do it. You also get points and free stuff,” one user highlighted, showcasing the incentives provided by the restaurant for mobile orders.

The debate over mobile orders extends beyond convenience and privacy. Some patrons refuse to support Chick-fil-A due to the company's past controversies, while others simply prefer not to download additional apps. “Sorry, no, I’m not downloading an app for every fast food place. I’m not making an account. The food is no longer worth the cost,” one user stated, emphasizing the growing frustration with app-based services in the fast-food industry.

As Chick-fil-A continues to innovate its ordering process, the company faces the challenge of balancing technological advancements with customer satisfaction. Whether this shift to mobile orders will become the norm or face resistance remains to be seen. One thing is certain: the conversation around Chick-fil-A’s new system is far from over.

So it’s a different kind of situation when you have someone who’s 80 years old vs early 20 something to pull out your phone to look at what you want. I think the way this needs to be fixed during thier remodel is to add less people outside more menu boards spaced apart due to their long lines they already offer covered drive throughs

No, f*** your apps.

Will never use apps for fast food. F*** that the only reason companies push apps is so they can track every single purchase you make and do open market testing. Also they are 100% skimming your data. And in 2-3 years someone will backdoor it and everyone’s data will be leaked.
