My understanding of japanese is that the t shouldn't be there? ちゅ/chu is for 中, so I'm guessing it's supposed to be び/bi for 備

This is one of the 12 original castles in Japan. It’s quite small compared to Himeji (the biggest original castle) and one of two with “matsuyama” in their name. Final fact. It a long walk from there to the station.

B****u (or Bicchu) was a province in old Japan. I’m a translator and when given the freedom I always go for the double C but sometimes clients for whatever reason want romanization that ends up in things like this.
