In a gripping and chilling post on the popular subreddit r/AskReddit, user u/amjenn4x posed a question that has captured the attention of thousands: "Has anyone ever tried to kill you? How'd it go?" The post swiftly garnered 9,137 upvotes and 4,735 comments, creating a space for users to share some of their most terrifying life experiences.

Among the numerous replies, one comment by user Old-Arachnid77 stands out for its intense and harrowing details. Posted 242 days ago, this comment has amassed 7.2k upvotes, resonating deeply with many Reddit users.

Old-Arachnid77 recounts a personal and disturbing encounter with their ex-husband. They describe a horrifying moment when their ex-husband choked them, refusing to let go. In a life-saving flash of insight inspired by horror movies, Old-Arachnid77 remembered their own comment about why people struggle when being choked instead of pretending to be dead to make the attacker think it's over. By relaxing and "looking off," they managed to deceive their assailant into thinking they were no longer alive, causing him to freak out and release his grip.

This terrifying ordeal led Old-Arachnid77 to leave their ex-husband two days later and finalize a divorce within two months. The commenter ends their recount with a strong negative statement about their ex-husband, hoping that he is dead.

The post has sparked a wide range of reactions from fellow Redditors. One user offered a "friendly reminder to never let yourself be taken to a secondary location by an attacker." Another commented, "Okaaay then… enough internet for the day." Some shared their own terrifying experiences, from witnessing neighbors in violent struggles to surviving near-death incidents during childhood.

One particularly intense comment details a 2016 incident where a user found their neighbor strangling his wife. Armed with a shotgun, they intervened, causing the attacker to flee. Another commenter, a former combat soldier, reflected on the numerous attempts on their life, gratefully noting that they never had to kill anyone in return.

These stories, while distressing, highlight the resilience and quick thinking of individuals in life-threatening situations. The thread also serves as a stark reminder of the harsh realities some people face, and the importance of being vigilant and prepared.

I'm glad other people have never tried to kill me. S*** sounds terrifying. Only god has tried to kill me. With an autoimmune disorder. Almost got my a**. But he didn't. B****.

I have a low tolerance for people who want to "f*** around". After a friend I used to train with was beaten to death with baseball and cricket bats, in front of me. Apparently he had a price on his head 🤷‍♂️

Yup, and I'm still here. Cops were f***ing useless after so he is still free too.

2016 I found my neighbor in the process of strangling his wife at the end of their driveway. Luckily I had brought my shot gun with me, heard her screaming attempting to get away from him. After she ran off, he started coming after me. Almost shot him before another neighbor showed up. Later I found out that she had been trying to leave, she had put her kids in the car, and locked it, threw the keys into the bushes before she started to run away from him. They saw the whole thing, s*** was crazy

I was a combat soldier. More people have tried to kill me than I could properly calculate. None did. Thankfully, I didn't kill any of them either. For once, failure is a gift.

My near death incident also involves the pool. Two older kids of family friends decided they would give me an education in underwater breathing at age 8. It was a crowded pool but none of the adults came to my rescue even after hearing the coughing and flailing whenever they would let me come up for air. I escaped and tattled to my mother. Luckily, their mother loved me, and laid a beating on those two they probably never forgot. They never went to the pool or came over again.

I used to bike pizzas around NYC. Some d***head in a Mercedes convertible blew a red light and almost hit me in an intersection, so I called him a d*****bag. He got out of his car and pursued me on foot, didn't really have a good angle to get away because of how cramped the street we were on was, so I hopped off the bike and tried to talk him down. He tried to strangle me, I froze for a moment, then I broke his f***ing face with the padlock on a chain we tied our bikes up with.
