A delightful video from Argentina has captured the hearts of many, showing an adopted dog choosing her own name. The video features a Spanish-speaking family presenting various names to their new furry friend, including Masha, Alma, Betty, and Edith. However, it is the name "Furia" that elicits an enthusiastic response from the dog, leading the family to excitedly repeat, "¿Se llama Furia?" (Is her name Furia?).

This inspirational moment echoes with many pet owners who have shared their unique experiences of letting their pets choose their own names. One commenter reminisced about letting their dog pick his name by placing sheets of paper with treats in front of him; the first one he ate became his new name. Another shared a humorous anecdote about their dog being named after a door-knocking sound.

The video and comments highlight the joy and connection that comes from allowing pets to have a say in their names. One user fondly recalled their childhood experience where their three-year-old brother named their dog "Jumper" because he jumped a lot, which eventually led their mom to rename him Zeus due to his energetic nature.

Some pet owners have also shared stories of renaming their pets based on their reactions. One person mentioned how their dog Maggy got happy when they called her by that name, while another talked about renaming their fluffy white dog "kiltro," a Chilean slang for mixed-breed dog, which the dog loved.

Interestingly, the term "boludo" in the video, a common slang in Argentina, further reinforces the video's origin. The shared experiences in the comments reflect a universal sentiment: the bond between pets and their owners is often deepened by such personal and endearing gestures.

The video of the adopted dog choosing the name "Furia" not only provides a inspirational glimpse into the pet adoption process but also resonates with pet owners worldwide, reminding them of the special moments shared with their beloved animals.

When I was a kid we adopted a dog. The shelter said his name was Jack. He would growl when we said it. So my mom let my three year old brother pick the dogs name. "Jumper because he jumps!" Which led to "jumper" jumping more. My mom renamed him Zeus "because he jumps everything".

That’s how I picked my dog Maggy’s name- tried a few and when I used Maggy she got all happy.

The dog we had was named "copito" bc he was so fluffy and white, but my mom started calling him "kiltro" which is just Chilean slang for mixed breed dog, y'know the ones you cannot identify a single breed feature, and he loved it

We call our Shiba dog "Shiba."

I lived in Mongolia and misheard my host family’s dog’s name as хэн бэ (khen be). (I never figured out her actual name) This translates to “who is it?”, which I would yell down the street….

I did this with a rescue. Picked her up as she was surrended and had a 40 minute drive home. She was so stressed, barfed , and laid her head in my lap. She responded over and over to only one name. I knew her "before name" and we were not keeping that! The equivalent of naming a super cute fluffy girl puppy Deadpool.
