In a world where social media reigns supreme, the debate on the worthiness of TikToks versus historical achievements like the construction of cathedrals has taken center stage. A recent video on Imgur titled "She's not wrong" humorously tackles this very issue, sparking a lively discussion among viewers.

The video features a woman reflecting on her friend's concerns about the potentially embarrassing nature of her TikTok videos. She amusingly agrees, stating, "Of course, this is all embarrassing. We're just a bunch of lumps talking to our phones, acting like it's important." She then draws a stark contrast between modern social media content and the magnificent cathedrals of the Middle Ages, built with minimal technology yet standing as a testament to human craftsmanship. She humorously concludes that future generations might look back at our era and see "a bunch of people making videos about how eating candy sounds."

This video resonated with many viewers, sparking a range of reactions. One user emphatically agreed, exclaiming, "ITS FREAKING EMBARRASSING!" Another recalled an interview with a D-Day veteran who believed the current generation would handle challenges just as well as his own, reminding us that every era has its quirks and silliness.

Several commenters pointed out that people in the Middle Ages were just as silly, engaging in graffiti and other forms of expression. One user noted, "Wanting to share what you find funny with others isn't embarrassing, it's human." This sentiment was echoed by another viewer who humorously mentioned their lack of TikToks, saying, "My TikToks aren't embarrassing. Of course, that's because I don't have any."

The comparison between modern teens on the internet and Middle Ages architects was deemed a fallacy by some, while others suggested that future monumental works of art could honor more relatable themes like kittens, puppies, and goth aesthetics.

One insightful comment highlighted the impressive achievements of our era, such as the James Webb Space Telescope, waterways connecting oceans, and probes exploring other worlds. They argued that creating art, even if deemed silly, is a unique and valuable human endeavor.

Interestingly, some users expressed relief that digital data might not last forever, envisioning a future where our tweets, TikToks, and Imgur posts evaporate into nothingness. Others called for an algorithm to reduce the excessive use of filler words like "like" in videos, humorously suggesting it could save everyone a lot of time.

In essence, the video and ensuing discussion highlight the timeless nature of human creativity and the evolving ways we choose to express ourselves. While modern social media might seem trivial compared to historical feats, it remains an integral part of our cultural tapestry, capturing the essence of our era for future generations to ponder.

Eh, the people back then were just as silly as we are now, they just didn't have recording devices. Instead they did silly graffiti and immortalized themselves that way. Wanting to share what you find funny with others isn't embarrassing, it's human. It's part of what makes us who we are. And some of us are still building impressive structures, too. While others again are just waiting for the opportunity to leave their silly graffiti on them.

"ITS F***ING EMBARRASSING!"

This made me recall an interview I saw with a D-Day veteran. He was asked how he thought the current generation would handle the same situation he was put in. He replied that he thought they would do just fine, and that people seem to forget that he and his comrades were also just a bunch of silly 18 year old lads before they were thrown into battle. I think the interviewer was expecting a different response.

Maybe instead of building monumental works of art to honour an imaginary and belligerent sky nanny like they did then or to the great god of commerce we do now, in the future we can build monumental works of art to things that actually matter. Kittens, puppies, and goth butts in fishnets.

I don't know, I think maybe we're a little better than the people who used to burn women to death.

We've also made things that'll be around long after our civilizations have been forgotten like the james webb space telescope, dug waterways that connect oceans, move, dismantle, and build mountains, create new life forms, have probes exploring another world, have connected the majority of humans on the planet to vast repositories of all our collective knowledge, and that silly embarrassing thing is us creating art, something unique in the universe.
