For fans of the legendary TV show "Friends," the apartments of Monica, Rachel, Chandler, and Joey have always been as iconic as the characters themselves. A detailed floor plan by Iñaki Aliste Lizarralde provides an in-depth look at these beloved New York City apartments located at 90 Bedford St., Apts. 19th & 20th, NY 10014, U.S.A.

The floor plan showcases two adjacent apartments, each filled with memorable furniture and decor that fans will instantly recognize. The left apartment, shared by Chandler and Joey, features a cozy living area with a tan sofa and two red armchairs, a television, a coffee table, and a small dining area. The blue-themed kitchen adjacent to the living area adds a pop of color, while the bedroom is furnished with a bed and light-colored furniture.

The central section of the floor plan includes a shared staircase or hallway, which connects the two apartments and provides access to a shared balcony or outdoor area, a perfect spot for scenes of camaraderie and drama.

The right apartment, home to Monica and Rachel, is larger and more elaborately decorated. It boasts a spacious living room with a large pink couch, armchairs, a round coffee table, and a television. The kitchen area, with its light cabinetry and appliances, is where many memorable scenes unfolded. The bedroom is equipped with a large bed and ample closet space, and the apartment also includes a well-furnished bathroom and an additional guest room or office.

Luxury apartments in TV shows often set unrealistic expectations, as noted by some fans. One comment humorously points out, "Luxury apartments giving us unrealistic expectations." Another adds, "I swear, so many of these set designers have never seen an actual apartment layout."

A noteworthy comment mentions Monica's infamous closet: "#1 that question mark in Monica's apartment is her closet of shame." This closet was revealed in a memorable episode where Chandler discovers Monica's hidden mess.

Fans also pointed out various inconsistencies in other TV show homes, such as the Simpson's house. There are discrepancies in the layout, like windows appearing in different places in different episodes, as one commenter noted: "There are lots of discrepancies in the Simpsons house: in some episodes, the main bedroom has a window to the front yard, in one (or more) ep. there is a window that faces Ned's house."

The fascination with TV show apartments extends beyond "Friends," with fans requesting floor plans for other iconic homes. Comments like "Need the golden girls floor plan now" and "Where's Seinfeld?" show the ongoing interest in the layout of beloved TV show settings.

This detailed floor plan by Iñaki Aliste Lizarralde not only provides a nostalgic trip for "Friends" fans but also highlights the charm and quirks of TV show apartments that have captivated audiences for decades. Whether it's the unrealistic luxury or the hidden secrets like Monica's junk closet, these apartments remain an integral part of the "Friends" legacy.

am I the only one around here that hates using “first floor” to describe the second story? The ground floor IS the first floor

#1 that question mark in Monica's apartment is her closet of shame.

That’s the second floor of the Simpson’s house as we would call it in the U.S. and it’s a shame they didn’t include the level with the rumpus room.

There are lots of discrepancies in the simpsons house: in some episodes, the main bedroom has a window to the front yard, in one (or more) ep. there is a window that faces Ned's house, which should be on the bed's head (where we never see a window). The corridor appears to always suggest the rooms disposition as in #8 but in one ep. Homer strangles Bart trough a wall connecting their own bedrooms, but they are never connected (even Lisa's bedroom appears to be connected the the main one)
