In a nostalgic yet humorous twist, an image meme has gone viral, drawing a connection between childhood memories and adult anxiety. The meme, titled "Bottom shelf memes: bored games edition," has captivated audiences with its clever juxtaposition of ther***** dialogue and a vintage board game.

The top section of the meme presents a simple yet intriguing question posed by a ther*****: "Ther*****: so when do you think your anxiety started?" This question is followed by a series of ellipses, leaving the responder's thoughts open-ended.

The lower part of the image features the classic board game Perfection, instantly recognizable to many. This game includes a red rectangular base with a blue grid filled with various holes, each designed to fit a specific yellow plastic piece. The objective is to place all the pieces into their corresponding slots before the timer runs out, causing the pieces to pop out unexpectedly—a moment guaranteed to induce a rush of adrenaline.

Comments on the meme have been both entertaining and insightful. One user (#44) exclaimed, "damn thats crazy," encapsulating the general reaction. Another comment (#11) humorously critiqued the popular board game Monopoly, suggesting it "kinda sucks" in comparison. The nostalgia continued with a user (#6) noting that the dog in the game is "the best king ever" and another (#26) drawing a parallel to the Monopoly Community Chest card.

The clever integration of ther***** dialogue with the anxiety-inducing game has resonated with many, prompting reactions ranging from deep laughter (#37) to sheer confusion (#40). One particularly nostalgic comment (#3) even reminisced about another classic game, suggesting enhancements for a better experience.

The meme also sparked conversations about other board games and their effects. A comment (#22) mentioned chess, pointing out potential illegal moves, while another (#23) offered practical advice on using a plastic spatula for hard-to-reach spots.

Overall, this meme successfully taps into collective childhood experiences, using humor to highlight how seemingly trivial moments from our past can resonate with our present lives. Whether one remembers the thrill of racing against the clock in Perfection or the frustration of Monopoly, the meme serves as a delightful reminder of the simple joys and stresses of youth.

This viral sensation has not only provided a much-needed laugh but also sparked a wave of nostalgia, reminding everyone that sometimes, the roots of anxiety can be traced back to something as simple as a childhood game.

Trying to figure out #40. Best I've come up with so far is the black bishop can take the third pawn from the right and put the king in check, but the king could just move forward a square. Alternately, maybe the knight takes that pawn and forks the queen and a rook because the bishop prevents the king from taking it. Still feels less like a trap and more like a trade.
