The allure of the mysterious and the forbidden often captures our imaginations, and this is vividly exemplified in the social media post that has recently gone viral. Titled "The Forbidden Pool," the post from the user "pool-core" shows an image of a brightly lit, indoor pool with glowing blue water, enclosed by industrial equipment and pipes with a yellow-orange hue. This setting unmistakably resembles a reactor pool or some form of industrial facility.

The image has ignited a flurry of reactions, with users debating the safety and logic of swimming in such a pool. One user pointedly asks, "If you can’t swim in it, why did they install diving blocks? Checkmate, atheists." Another humorously compares it to a scene from a video game, saying, "This looks like something Lara Croft would swim in." The comments range from humor to technical explanations, creating a lively discussion around the pool.

User "pool-core" addresses the curiosity with a mix of sarcasm and defiance, stating, "Every so often a note will blow through my notifs telling me 'Um actually the water is only radioactive at the bottom so it’s perfectly safe to swim here' yeah b**** swim in the reactor pool see if I f***ing care."

Adding another layer to the conversation, user "jambambles" provides an anecdote about consulting a friend who works at a research reactor. According to this expert, "You’d die pretty quickly, before reaching the water, from gunshot wounds." This stark warning highlights the high-security measures in place at such facilities, deterring any adventurous souls from attempting a swim.

The comments section is rich with both humorous and insightful contributions. One user recalls a professional industrial diver who inspected a decay pool and set off alarms after picking up a strange rod. Another user, drawing from personal experience, mentions, "A friend of mine worked in one putting glass in...he said dudes were walking around everywhere with M16s. Once you checked in to work, you weren't allowed to leave so if you forgot a tool, you just didn't have it that day."

The discussion even delves into the specifics of reactor pool water, with one user noting the difference in appearance of "heavy water" compared to regular water. Another user, referencing the webcomic "xkcd," mentions that the passage is from "What If."

Interestingly, the post also includes a link to a related video by Tom Scott, adding an educational twist to the intriguing topic. The blend of humor, real-life experiences, and technical knowledge makes this post a fascinating read for anyone curious about the enigmatic "Forbidden Pool."

In summary, while the glowing blue water of the reactor pool might look inviting, the reality is far from a leisurely swim. From high-security protocols to the inherent dangers of radioactive water, the "Forbidden Pool" remains a place best admired from afar.

Ah, reactor pool water. You know the difference between a light fluffy snowfall when temp is in single digits vs a wet heavy clumpy snow at low 30’s? Yes, they are both frozen water in form of snow but they are not the same. Heavy water as it moves just looks . . . Different

I think the reactor water would kill me if I tried swimming in it on account of never having learned to swim.
