A video titled "Trolling racists with a tuba is one of the greatest performances I’ve ever seen" has taken the internet by storm, showcasing a unique and humorous approach to counter-protesting. The video features a tuba player, armed with nothing but his musical instrument, who disrupts a group of racists by playing tunes that undermine their hateful demonstration.

As the video begins, the tuba player can be heard saying, "Let's hear a bit of your sound, can you feel that?" followed by the remark, "And this is what stupid looks like. Let me get my camera. Whatever. Stupid is, as stupid does." This sets the tone for the rest of the performance, where the musician uses his sousaphone, a type of tuba, to create an atmosphere of ridicule and absurdity.

Several viewers pointed out the irony and absurdity of the scene. One comment highlighted, "It's about culture!" to which another replied, "Yeah, a culture of hate." The juxtaposition of Confederate flags with U.S. flags baffled many, as one user noted, "It has always baffled me how these people are mixing Confederate flags with U.S. flags like they are completely clueless what they represent."

The musical choices also sparked discussions. One viewer mentioned, "Not sure Ride of the Valkyries is 'trolling,' as its epic music, but I approve of the rest." Another suggested an alternative, "Should play 'March of the Gladiators.' Trust me... [link]."

Comments also touched on the historical context and the effectiveness of such counter-protests. "Most of those racists were in high school longer than the Confederacy existed," one user quipped. Another added, "Didn’t the confederate last a shorter time than Obama stayed in office?"

The humorous and harmless approach of the tuba player resonated with many. "My favorite kind of counter-protest, ridicule. They can do their demonstration but they will forever associate it with a guy with tuba," one comment read. Another praised the musician, "That tuba player deserves a medal."

The video also sparked discussions about the significance of the Confederate flag. One non-American viewer wondered, "The confederate flag was flown by the losing side of the American civil war, right? Why is it not considered an act of war to fly it?"

Overall, the video serves as a reminder of the power of humor and music in challenging hate and bigotry. As one viewer put it, "Fascists hate being made fun of. They want to seem scary, but if you make them the subject of hilarity while they're the b*** of the joke, they shrivel up and die."

The tuba player's performance is a splendidly harmless and silly way to take the sting out of a hateful demonstration, showing that sometimes, the best counter-protest is one that leaves everyone laughing.

That’s a sousaphone, a type of tuba. Anyway, it has always baffled me how these people are mixing Confederate flags with U.S. flags like they are completely clueless what they represent.

Not sure Ride of the Valkyries is "trolling", as its epic music, but I approve of the rest.

They're getting attention, that's what they want.

Something that just came to mind as a non-american, not sure if it’s a stupid question (or one borne of my lack of education on american history) or not: the confederate flag was flown by the losing side of the american civil war, right? Why is it not considered an act of war to fly it? It’s resurrecting a warring, combative faction directly opposed to the ancestors of those around and in power today, no?

My favorite kind of counter-protest, ridicule. They can do their demonstration but they will forever assosiate it with a guy with tuba. =) Didn´t the confederate last a shorter time than Obama stayed in office?

A couple of weeks ago there was a post asking for someone to play the tuba at a rally in exchange for free lunch - is this the result?!
