The latest image of Philomena Cunk has taken the internet by storm, sparking both laughter and intense discussion. The composite image, featuring three frames from a video or TV show, captures Philomena Cunk delivering a satirical commentary on colonial American history.

In the first frame, Cunk, dressed in a checked blazer over a blue shirt, stands outside a white building with a steeple, presumably a church or historical site. She begins her narrative with, "After arriving in America to forge a life of honest, hard work and toil," setting the scene for what appears to be a serious historical recount.

The second frame quickly shifts the tone with the subtitle, "many of these colonists quickly discovered they couldn't be arsed," injecting Cunk's signature humor into the discussion. Her deadpan delivery adds to the comedic effect, making viewers chuckle at the blunt assessment of colonial laziness.

Finally, the third frame delivers the punchline with, "so they stole people from Africa and made them do it instead." This stark statement is a biting critique of the brutal history of slavery, wrapped in Cunk's characteristic wit.

The image has garnered a multitude of reactions online. One user commented, "After all it worked so well for the British for centuries before (and almost a century later) when they invaded so many other countries and forced the indigenous population to do what the British wanted..." Another added, "Oh, nono, they realized there'd be work involved, so they briefly quit tryna ethnically cleanse all us natives, and tried to enslave us instead. Clearly, that didn't work out for them."

However, not all responses were light-hearted. Some users pointed out historical inaccuracies, with comments like, "Correction: they depopulated Hispaniola taking slaves and killing them with labour and disease. Then resorted to African slavery and patted themselves on the back for this more moral slavery, because African slaves died far less often."

Despite the mix of reactions, Cunk's ability to blend humor with historical critique has clearly struck a chord. One particularly enthusiastic fan wrote, "Love me some Cunk! I hope they make more of these."

Philomena Cunk's sharp wit and poignant observations continue to engage audiences, proving that comedy can be a powerful tool for sparking meaningful conversations about history and its lasting impacts.

I'm confused about the words used. Doesn't "arse" equal "a**", so isn't she's saying they couldn't be assed? My autism is showing a bit here (taking things too literally). I think I get the point of the joke, but maybe I don't.

stole? they were purchased, stealing would require the powdered wig and high heel wearing f***s to do some work

I've never seen this episode but I still read it in her voice.

I would be angry about this but Jamestown had a starvation problem because the original colonist refused to plant food crops... So it's kind of a fair cop? She is missing a few steps though, first the imported poor people from England and Ireland has indentured servants to do the work but they realize that they had to free them eventually and they started asking each other what if we could bring people in to do the work and never had to free them?
