Mary Elizabeth Hanch, a Baptist preacher, recently shared a thought-provoking post on a social media platform that has sparked a wide array of reactions. The post, which was made public 12 hours ago, features Mary’s profile picture and a blue "Follow" button, indicating her willingness to engage with a broader audience.

In her post, Mary Elizabeth Hanch addresses the concept of mocking God, emphasizing that individuals do not need to defend God but often feel the need to defend their religious practices. She suggests that the real issue lies in what people believe to be true about God and how they choose to behave because of those beliefs. Mary eloquently states, "The accusation that one is mocking God begs questions about what precisely the accuser is defending."

The post has garnered numerous comments from users, reflecting a spectrum of viewpoints. One user remarked, "Christian Judgementalism does not honor God," while another added, "Destroying ecosystems dishonors God." A different perspective was shared by a user who commented, "God can defend himself, I'm here to try to be as kind, loving, and charitable as I can be."

Mary Elizabeth Hanch's bold stance has also drawn comparisons to broader societal issues. One commenter noted, "Those fascists celebrate the symbol, not the thing they profess belief in. It's like 45's recent comments on making laws against defacing the USA flag." Another user expressed frustration that the people who need to hear this message may not listen, especially because it is delivered by a woman, even though she is an ordained minister.

The post also resonated with those who appreciate a compassionate approach to religion. One user wrote, "It's so refreshing to hear from Christians with morals," and another stated, "This is the kind of religion that I support. Though I myself don't believe in God, I respect and support anyone whose beliefs compel them towards compassion for all people."

Mary Elizabeth Hanch's thoughts have successfully opened a dialogue about the role of religious practices and the importance of compassion and understanding in faith. Her message continues to inspire and provoke critical thinking among her followers and beyond.

If there is a god and a hell, evangelicals will have a lot of explaining to do. I suspect that will not go well for them.

Those fascist celebrate the symbol, not the thing they profess belief in. It's like 45's recent comments on making laws against defacing the USA flag. The flag is a symbol. People should be free to burn it, draw on it, sew it into other things, etc. Maybe you don't like it, but you devalue what the symbol stands for by prohibiting other people's freedom and free will. Control and oppression from idolatrous people is rampant

Too bad those that need to read this can’t or won’t.

The people that need to listen to this message will not. The fact that it’s a women delivering it will outweigh the fact that they’re an ordained minister. Maybe I’m cynical, but that seems on brand for the right.

I choose Dionysius, but the Baptist preacher up there ain't wrong.

Why are we not hearing more church leaders criticizing the Republican party? Why do only evangelicals and fundamentalists have a voice in public media?
