In a recent viral post on social media, user "anistarrose" sparked a heated debate about noise in our communities. The post, which has garnered over 112,773 notes, features a colorful icon with floral patterns as the profile picture and a succinct yet thought-provoking message.

The post reads:

"children outside screaming: annoying but ultimately for the greater good. children need Going Outside and Screaming Time for proper emotional development. an auditory burden I am willing to bear

neighbor with his car he made louder on purpose: jail for neighbor. jail for ten thousand years

#rosalia talks"

This post has resonated with many, drawing a clear line between the types of noise that people find acceptable and those they do not.

One commenter echoed the sentiment, stating, "I hate both, but one is Proper and Correct Behavior in Society, while the other is just rudeness and asocial behavior." Another user added historical context by mentioning, "Fun fact: in ancient Sumerian flood myths, the reason the gods flood the earth and kill everyone is because humans were too loud and making it hard for the gods to sleep."

The debate intensified with opinions about loud vehicles. A user pointed out, "Loud pipes do not save lives. It is a myth made up by obnoxious people to justify their rude behavior." Another user emphasized the difference in noise levels, stating, "There is typically a distinct difference in decibel levels between the two, so I see no hypocrisy in this."

However, the discussion wasn't limited to just children and cars. One frustrated commenter shared their plight: "I wish apartment dwellers would invest in g*****n headphones. Your f***ing living room is NOT your personal movie theatre, Kevin, you p************. I don't need to feel the bass through my walls, shaking my light fixtures."

Despite the varied opinions, a common theme emerged: context and consideration for others. As one user wisely noted, "Playful, joyful squealing is one thing. That's fine. Kids gotta get a little noisy sometimes. But does nobody teach their kids not to scream bloody murder for no reason anymore?"

Even within this complex discussion, some found humor and relatability. A user commented, "We're a block from our daughter's elementary school and I love it when it's nice out and we can hear the chaos of recess for that brief period (I'm WFH)."

Ultimately, anistarrose's post highlights the need for balance and empathy in our interactions, especially regarding noise. While children playing outside might be a necessary part of their development, the blaring sound of modified cars often feels like an intrusive and unnecessary disturbance. The conversation continues to evolve, but one thing is certain: noise, in its many forms, is a universal concern that affects us all.

I don't need to feel the bass through my walls, shaking my light fixtures. Because while I do have headphones, they do not cancel out vibrations. Seriously. F*** you Kevin.

Children can be allowed to be loud outside, HOWEVER if they are screaming at full force they either need to be actively being abducted or they of another kid is bleeding out unconscious otherwise NO SCREAMING

It's possible to have a loud (within reason) car and not be a t***. My car has a big block that's louder than most anything built this century, but in residential areas, and especially my neighbourhood, I drive it as quietly as humanly possible. It's also possible to have a car that sounds good without being obnoxiously loud.

"Kids never go outside anymore." Kid goes outside. "Quit running on the sidewalk, no bikes or skateboards allowed, don't make any noise in public."

Playful, joyful squealing is one thing. That's fine. Kids gotta get a little noisy sometimes. But does nobody teach their kids not to scream bloody murder for no reason anymore? "Boy Who Cried Wolf?" Anyone? My parents always told me to never scream unless I was hurt or in danger because if I did it for fun all the time, they'd never know the difference if I was in real danger. I taught my kid the same. Nobody else seems to even consider this.
