A viral video on Imgur titled "MRW my buddy repeatedly turned down the sexual advances of a smoking h******** in a bar because she was drunk off her a**" has sparked significant discussion on social media. The video captures the moment when a man decides to do the right thing by refusing the advances of a heavily intoxicated woman at a bar, prioritizing her well-being over a potential hookup.

The conversation around this video has been diverse, with many praising the man's decision. One user remarked, "So it's safe to say you aren't buddies with Brock Turner?" referring to the infamous case involving Brock Allen Turner. This comment highlighted the importance of consent and the consequences of ignoring it.

Another user shared a personal experience, "Leaving a bar one night; two women arguing in the parking lot. One was drunk but wanted to drive; her friend was trying to stop her. I offered to drive them home. They lived a mile away; during the drive, the drunk girl was offering advances. Got to their place and helped to pour the drunk one into bed and then left. A week later, I'm at a random party and run into them. She says 'Have we met?' Me: 'No, I don't think so.'" This anecdote underscores the importance of helping those in vulnerable situations without taking advantage of them.

A formerly drunk girl commented, "I hope you guys made sure she got home ok, and it’s not terrible to check in the next day and make her aware of these things. Could save her a lot of grief." This user highlighted the importance of follow-up and ensuring the safety of those who might not remember the events of the previous night.

Another user shared their discomfort with similar situations, "I've turned down the advances of a hot drunk (or maybe high, it was a concert) girl because I didn't know her and she was touching me. I learned that strangers grabbing onto me is very off-putting regardless of how cute they might be."

Interestingly, some comments reflected humor and pop culture references, with one user quipping, "Let me guess, your buddy is Austin Powers?" while another said, "Turning down a hot drunk girl is like pulling the pin on a hand grenade.. just run!"

The collective sentiment in the comments suggests that the right choice is always to ensure the safety and consent of all parties involved. Users expressed that such actions should be the default response, not a special one.

The video has opened up an essential dialogue about consent, respect, and the responsibilities of individuals in social situations. The man's decision to turn down the advances of a drunk girl in a bar is a commendable act that serves as an example for others.

So it's safe to say you aren't buddies with Brock Turner, the r*****?

As a formerly drunk girl who thankfully was never assaulted while drunk but made plenty of bad decisions; I hope you guys made sure she got home ok, and it’s not terrible to check in the next day and make her aware of these things. Could save her a lot of grief. That being said I’ve also known at least one person who would get inebriated, heavily hit on someone, and then accuse them even when they didn’t do anything (I know they didn’t because I was there at least one of the times).

beeeeeeerkaaaaa

I'm debating. That should be the default response not a special one to an overly drunk potential partner.

That's good. Unless he waited for her to pass out behind a dumpster or something like Brock Allen Turner the r*****. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People_v._Turner

I've turned down the advances of a hot drunk (or maybe high, it was a concert) girl because I didn't know her and she was touching me and I hated every single part of the interaction. I learned that strangers grabbing onto me is very off-putting regardless of how cute they might be.
