In a striking image that has circulated widely on social media, a large billboard set against a partly cloudy sky presents a sobering message about the consequences of fossil fuel consumption. The billboard is divided into two distinct sections that combine to deliver a powerful statement.

On the left side of the billboard, bold letters state, "BROUGHT TO YOU BY BIG OIL." Below this text, a rectangular dark button-like graphic displays "ThankYouBigOil.com" with a hand cursor pointing towards it. The smaller text beneath reads, "PAID FOR BY MAKE POLLUTERS PAY," highlighting the campaign's aim to hold major polluters accountable for environmental damage.

The right side of the billboard features a colored map of the United States, focusing on the western part, with numerous temperature readings that indicate "EXTREME HEAT" across several cities. The temperatures are alarmingly high, with many exceeding 100°F. Specific temperature readings include:

- 98° near Seattle

- 108° near Portland

- 110° near Boise

- 97° near Salt Lake City

- 109° near Sacramento

- 105° near Las Vegas

- 97° near Denver

- 102° near San Francisco

- 104° near Los Angeles

- 106° near Phoenix

- 103° near Albuquerque

- 101° near El Paso

- 102° near Dallas

- 98° in Oklahoma

- 92° near Kansas City

- 95° near Chicago

- 96° near St. Louis

- 95° near Memphis

- 94° near Atlanta

The temperatures are highlighted in shades of red and orange, emphasizing the severity of the heat. This visual representation draws a direct connection between the influence of "Big Oil" and the extreme weather conditions being experienced across the country.

User comments reflect a mix of frustration, anger, and resignation towards the situation. One user notes that oil companies conducted internal studies as early as 1959, which found that burning fossil fuels causes climate change. Another comment underscores that coal and corrupt politicians also play significant roles in perpetuating the current state of environmental degradation.

Despite the bleak outlook, some users express a desire for change, mentioning efforts to switch to electric cars and participate in climate marches. However, the overarching sentiment is one of exhaustion and hopelessness, as many feel that the necessary actions to combat climate change are not being taken seriously by those in power.

This billboard serves as a stark reminder of the pressing need for environmental accountability and action. It vividly illustrates the real-world impacts of climate change and the urgent necessity for a collective effort to mitigate further damage.

Oil companies themselves did internal studies that found burning fossil fuels causes climate change as early as 1959. Imagine if they'd spent all the money lobbying for decreased regulations on adapting their cars to be the real cars of the future. Or better yet transitioned their companies to primary public transport.

Also big coal

Until it becomes TOO EXPENSIVE AND BLOODY to maintain & protect pipelines from constant bombing and internal sabotage, every vote, every sign, every concerned meme/post in the world won't make a SHRED of difference. These mother f***ers are prepared to let the destruction of the ecosystem kill every last one of us, even if it means no one will be left to buy a single product made using petroleum. Why? Because they know they'll all be DEAD by the time the chickens come home to really roost.

Pretty much the industrial revolution forward.

And corrupt politicians. Being asked politely to change laws, they say no, we wait four years to try again. They say no. 40 years later we boil. All very polite and formal.

What, you're just going to ignore all of coal's hard work?

It's for the best, nothing in humanities short history has done anything to convince me we shouldn't be wiped out as soon as possible.
