I would frequently vomit/pass out from my period pain. 15 years of (male) drs insisted it was normal and "part of the joy of being a woman".

#7 I kinda have to disagree with one of these: blood is to be considered "dirty" no matter its origin; it needs to be cleaned off of surfaces or out of fabrics or it can pose a health risk to people contacting it later. Doesn't matter whether it came out as part of a natural b***** process or an injury, blood is blood and the hazards or lack thereof are the same either way.

#23 Ok why is this making me cry.

I’m tired of society judging women as emotionally unstable or crazy when our hormones react to anything and everything without our permission, which so happens to influence us to be tired, hungry, and depressed because evolution thought it’d make it easier for males to impregnate us that way. Men get the s** hormone that generates energy and wants physical activity so they can shut up since they will never understand.

Took me 8 years to get my endo diagnosis. Was told over and over that it was all in my head, and a gastrointestinal specialist told me to “go and find something real to worry about”. NHS in the 21st century. Gyn consultant only agreed to a laparoscopy to shut me up. Don’t let your doctors fob you off. Keep pushing them until they find the cause of your problems! Also, learn about menopause now, before you find out the hard way. Be well, u*****-bearers <3

#13 Period pain can be an absolute raging f***er, but comparing it to heart attacks is weird. A lot of people dont even realise they're having a heart attack, they just feel really sick.

Idk if anyone in The Netherlands needs to hear this, but: you *always* have the right to a second opinion from another doctor if you're unsure about the current one. My psychiatrist told me this and proceeded used it to help get me into a specialized program in a hospital (for which I am forever grateful). It's something many people here aren't aware of.

Periods are dumb as h*** and it f****** s**** that the only option is hormonal birth control or complete removal. If men also had periods there would be a cure in a week.

If you're bleeding through a pad or t***** every few hours, throwing up or debilitated by pain, IT'S NOT NORMAL! Turns out all the women in my family had fibroids and PCOS and thought it was normal.

23 years of absolute agony during periods and pain throughout the month as well. When I finally got my hysterectomy I was so ecstatic. I still have cycles and my ovaries hurt but man I'll take it! My periods were worse than my labor was.
