For Finland, the thing where you get a sword and a tophat when you graduate as a PhD is not exactly 100% wrong but still quite wrong. As a PhD, all you get is the right to buy them (non-PhD's can't buy them), and you buy them at your own expense, and they're pretty expensive. Buying them is fortunately not mandatory.
