I mean this is pretty much what I believe right now. It's what I've believed for decades. It's not secret or a conspiracy, it's just a bunch of people who are really good at acting in their own interests acting in their own interests

I always say this to people who think a secret cabal controlling the world. It's right there. They even got the citizens united decision in 2010 and can spend unlimited money on elections, and don't have to report it. And after that the average amount *spent* by campaigns doubled from 2004 to 2020. That money came from somewhere. So unless you think average voters upped their campaign donations by 6 billion dollars, that is almost certainly corporations.
