100% true. It's usually something to do with learning a new software or find a feature I used to know where it is and I can't find it anymore.

I notice the small channels with quick or straight to the point tutorials are usually the best

Notepad? Windowed. Music? 009 Sound System. Hypercam? Unregistered. Oh yeah, it's tutorial time.

Or when you find a random post somewhere from 10 years ago saying "oh thanks, that fixed it" without telling us how he did it

Most times I search for something like this, the top results are videos of instructions that could be boiled down to a few lines of text. So instead of a straightforward answer, you have to wade through an intro video with an animated logo, an explanation on why they haven’t posted in a while and/or what they’ve been doing since then, “hi guys”, references to their other videos, sponsor plugs, and the inevitable entreaties upvote and subscribe. Ugh.

And then you have the really c***** tutorial with a click bait title, thousands of fake followers and 100x dislikes than likes… oh wait, only the video uploader knows that last part. There’s now no way to tell if a video is c*** before hand now. Thanks YT!

There is one guy I blocked on YouTube that would post videos of questions from computer forums and show the forum answer as text on the screen. It was basically just autogenerated videos flooding YouTube.

Some Finnish teenager's YouTube content helped me resolve an incredibly specific situation that got my phone up and running as a virtual Webcam on my computer when covid popped off. Thank you sir 🇫🇮

IDK about other areas, but as a physicist turned programmer, it's always an Indian guy

I wonder if a lot of this is third party companies using YouTube as a median to save and distribute video help to customers and it's just open to watch or something. I mean teachers use it for that purpose and so do students.
