I see the majority of people don't understand who woefully underpaid the average actor is. Yes, the stars are extremely wealthy. Very few people are stars. The average member of the SAG makes 45K. And this contract also looks at property rights, image rights, AI and streaming.

Ok, who had Fran Drescher delivers a pro labor speech as she leads a strike as the head of a major trade union on their bingo card? Anybody?

Entertainment execs deserve nothing else but to be put in barrels and rolled downhill. They're parasites working on making entertainment the most disgusting, mass-produced, cheap-a** propaganda and anything remotely decent is being made despite them. Strike and, I hope, it can show people that strikes can be mighty effective

Fran Drescher is a National Treasure 🪙

This argument can literally be made for SO many common jobs at this time. Hollywood isn't the only one who needs to speak up about the wealth greed. Hell, I'm leaving HEALTHCARE because the pay is so atrociously bad compared to inflation. They can't do it without us, folks

I'm gonna be honest here. When I saw her hawking those electric shavers with the light in 'em, I thought "Oh, well that's sad, I used to watch her as a kid." and am both completely dumbstruck AND impressed that she's the f****an president of SAG-AFTRA? Good on her and also good on her for standing up to this corporate bs and striking with her peers.

It fascinates me just how narrow the points of view of people can be. The greed of Wall Street and Execs, regardless of industry, is out of control as a whole. Labor is the reason all industries, often despite execs and Wall Street, is even successful at all. Yet people only see and speak on these things from their point of view and what they know, missing just how wholly connected everything really is and just how universal this greed and the terribleness it has spawned really is. Strikes >

Things must’ve worked out really poorly with Mr Sheffield

I hope that masterful speech ended with a "eeeaaahhahahaha"

"Labor is the reason Hollywood is as successful as it is" hate to break it to you, but labor is the reason ANYTHING is successful. This would be a great kickoff to a US general strike, these changes aren't just s******* actors, they're s******* us all.
