As an Oklahoman I can tell you what goes on in the panhandle is amazing state and national parks including one of the best dark sky experiences in the country, and so so so much meth.

This isn't CRT. Just like everything else the right labels as CRT, this is just "history."

I knew about the Compromise, but I did not learn in school that Texas surrendered land to keep slavery. And it never occurred to me to ask why states are shaped a certain way.

How do grown adults in America not know this? I'm in the UK and I knew this. Do people just have no curiosity at all? It's a very clear anomaly on the map, of course it has a reason. I saw it and 5s of googling later I had an answer as to why it exists.

Ha. Texas surrendered 1845 and 20 years later 1865. Losers.

Remember the Alamo...? It was all about keeping slaves, nothing else.

Shortly before Texas joined the United States, it fought a war of secession from Mexico that was motivated by, you guessed it, slavery. Mexico abolished slavery and Texas fought a war to leave rather than give up their slaves.

From Texas. Grew up and went to school here. We learned about the Missouri compromise. Just throwin that out there.

We Europeans divided the countries in much more organized fashion. We just had a few hundred wars to get to our present status. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=c-WO73Dh7rY

I learned this in 2008 in my history class. I think the problem is a lack of history options beyond general history which mostly summarizes things over filtering it. I also kinda think gen history should put more focus on how to search for history and the fun of learning history than being a dull grind. I love history, hated history class.
