They used to get into accidents all the time and had to discontinue the 30 minute promise. Also traffic then was a fraction of what it is today. You could actually drive fast in the 80s.

The dominos where I worked had a few college dorms in our delivery area and I was often given a b*** for a tip. Ahh, the 80’s.

Hey I was a mystical land pirate before gps, twas a good time. There were actually studies on London cab drivers iirc that showed that delivery / taxi drivers had more developed directional brainy bits. Don't know if it's been reviewed away yet but always thought it was neat because it compared that part of the brain to a muscle that needed to be trained.

I was a bike courier in the 90s in Toronto, I had a map book of the whole city for when I didn't know the address. Intense job.

I used to deliver pizzas in the before times. Looked up the address on the big map in the entrance area and went on my run. Had an emergency map in my glovebox, but rarely ever needed it. You got to know your city by heart doing it the analog way back then.

We didn't use a paper map, we had the whole city memorized. Street numbers 20000-30000 are north south running streets with 21000 at the south end of town and 2000= 1 mile So anything on 26000 was a north south running street in the middle of town someplace... (but we memorized street names so you knew those too) 37000-50000 were east west running streets with the same 2000 = 1 mile. Odd numbers are on the West and South side of the street Evens on the North and East.

Even today, it infuriates me when I think of that scene in Spider Man 2 where the secretary refuses to pay for the pizza because Peter is like two minutes late. People in general are such f****** a******* that it's immensely refreshing these days to find one who isn't.
