the man just happened to be there and the dog didn't signal in any way that he should go to the trap. The trapped dog barking is probably what tipped him off.

This doesn’t quite add up. After the dog falls in the top also falls inside. Then the screen “fast forwards” and the top has been put back on the top of the hole.

Sorry, pay close attention to the lid after the dog falls in, and before the human arrives. This is staged for likes. The accident might be real, but at the least the rescue was staged.
