Let me guess. Ohio's demographics are beginning to trend in a way that the entrenched power doesn't like?

Ohio native and it's infuriating with how many people here aren't aware of this or don't care about it. This has a chance of being passed and that's truly frightening.

Ohio Republicans have seen what has happened in Michigan when you allow the people to actually vote - citizens redistricting commissions, abortion rights in our Constitution, term limits, Constitutional protections for voting rights, require search warrants for police to search your phones, legal weed. The citizens of Ohio want all that. The GOP doesn't want to give it to them.

Requiring something greater than 50% for an amendment doesn't seem out of line to me. But that business about *all* counties and no cure period? G***. (But I'm not in Ohio, either)

If Issue 1 actually gets defeated, that's def going to s**** Ohio Republicans. That'll mean that the anger on abortion restrictions isn't just real, it's well organized and motivated.

This is also why the vote is on 8 August and not in November. The GQP is banking on a low voter turn out.

This is what republicans do - test fringe policy in a state, before copying and spreading to other state legislatures (Unless it fails spectacularly, like kansas 10 years ago)
