Folks always suggest turning malls into housing. Yet again I shall be that guy and weigh in to remind folks that large commercial structures make TERRIBLE, energy inefficient housing. They simply weren’t designed to be subdivided into small spaces or to serve as dwellings. Now, building apartments in the parking lot and using the mall as the common space, that might work.

Everything has come full circle. The original intention of the indoor mall was to have a place where people could live without needing cars, but the builders were like "ehh, s**** that, let's make a big store that people have to drive to. That'll make us more money!"
