House Democrats Alert Biden: Israel May Be Violating U.S. Law Over Gaza Aid Blockade

In a pivotal moment for U.S.-Israel relations, 86 House Democrats have voiced serious concerns about potential violations of international humanitarian law by Israel, regarding the obstruction of aid to Gaza. In a letter to President Joe Biden, lawmakers have suggested that Israel's actions may breach the U.S. Foreign Assistance Act, which mandates U.S.-funded arms recipients to adhere to international law.

These concerns arise amidst reports from the United Nations that Gaza is on the brink of famine, with over 34,000 Palestinian deaths and the remaining 2.3 million population facing acute food and water shortages. The situation in Gaza has been exacerbated by a conflict initiated by a Hamas attack on October 7, leading to over 1,200 deaths and the capture of more than 200 hostages.

The Biden Administration, having issued a national security memorandum in February, now requires recipient countries to offer written assurances of their commitment to international law. However, according to State Department bureaus, the assurances provided by Israel are currently seen as "neither credible nor reliable."

Amid these allegations, Israel stands firm, denying any wrongdoing and maintaining its stance that it has not contravened international law. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government has increased aid deliveries, but U.S. officials argue it remains insufficient. Concurrently, U.S. lawmakers condemn the initial Hamas attack while expressing grave concerns about Israel's conduct, urging Biden to communicate that continued restrictions could jeopardize U.S. security assistance.

The situation is further complicated by the Israeli military's (IDF) plan to evacuate Gazans from Rafah in preparation for a potential invasion, an operation to target Hamas in southern Gaza. This has raised alarm over the potential expulsion of nearly 1.5 million people, disrupting humanitarian aid distribution and presenting a significant logistical challenge for relocation. Aid workers have been briefed on the plan, and the IDF has begun procuring tents for relocation, though detailed plans for the safe transfer of Gazans remain undisclosed.

The White House continues discussions with Israel, while CIA Director Williams Burns meets with officials from Egypt, Qatar, and Israel to discuss a hostage deal. The Wall Street Journal has reported that Israel has given Hamas a one-week ultimatum to accept the deal or face a military operation. Israel’s special envoy for foreign affairs, Fleur Hassan-Nahoum, has indicated that soldiers are ready and plans for a Rafah invasion have been authorized, yet a specific timeline is not released.

These developments have prompted the Biden administration to verify Israel's compliance with U.S. law to prevent a humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Secretary of State Antony Blinken is tasked with informing Congress about Israel's credibility concerning the use of U.S. arms in compliance with international law. The future of U.S.-Israel relations hangs in a delicate balance as President Biden may be compelled to seek new assurances or suspend arms transfers if Israel's commitments are found lacking.

Conservative Bias:

Once again, the liberal mob in the House is trying to undermine our stalwart ally Israel, a beacon of democracy in a sea of totalitarian regimes, by accusing them of violating U.S. law. These Democrats, in their never-ending quest to appease terrorists and undermine national security, have the audacity to challenge Israel's right to defend itself. They ignore the fact that Hamas, a known terrorist group, instigated this conflict with a cowardly attack. Instead of standing firm with our ally, these leftists are trying to handcuff Israel's self-defense with bureaucratic red tape and threaten to cut off the aid that helps ensure the safety of the free world. The truth is, Israel is on the frontlines fighting terrorism and chaos, and these baseless accusations are nothing but an attempt to weaken Israel and, by extension, America's global standing.

Liberal Bias:

The heartless conservative regime in Washington turns a blind eye to the atrocities committed by the Israeli government against the Palestinians in Gaza. In a blatant disregard for human rights and international law, Israel continues to block crucial aid to the starving and besieged population of Gaza, all while the U.S. government funds their military with taxpayer dollars. These conservatives are complicit in war crimes, as they prioritize political alliances over innocent lives. The situation in Gaza is a direct result of aggressive Israeli policies, supported by U.S. conservatives who have no qualms about supporting a foreign power that oppresses millions. It's time for the Biden administration to take a stand against these injustices and halt any further assistance to Israel until they comply with international law and human decency.
