President Biden's national security spokesperson John Kirby addressed the escalating tensions between Iran and Israel following Iran's launch of over 300 drones and missiles at Israel. This act of aggression, which was largely thwarted by Israel's defense systems and the support of allies including the United States, has put a spotlight on the Biden administration's strategy in dealing with Iran's belligerence.
Kirby pointed fingers at former President Trump, suggesting that Trump's withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal has led to Iran moving closer to obtaining nuclear weapon capabilities. The Biden administration has faced criticism for advising Israel against retaliating with a strike against Iran, urging Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to exercise restraint to avoid further escalation of the conflict.
However, Trump and some GOP senators, including Lindsey Graham and Marsha Blackburn, have accused Biden of demonstrating weakness. They criticized Biden's deterrence strategy, with Graham indicating that a mere "Don't" is ineffective and Blackburn alleging that Biden's policies are indirectly funding Iran's attacks.
Despite the criticism, Kirby defended the administration's approach, stating that sanctions relief provided to Iran is strictly for humanitarian goods and that they have not softened their stance on Iran. The administration had even warned Iran with a simple "Don't," prior to the attack, which was ignored.
The situation was further complicated by the Biden administration's decisions to permit waivers on sanctions and unfreeze assets, allowing Iraq to purchase energy from Iran, giving Iran access to substantial funds. Netanyahu has stated that Israel had been preparing for a potential direct attack from Iran and has made public appearances with Israeli Defense Force soldiers.
Experts from the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, Behnam Ben Taleblu and Jonathan Conricus, have emphasized Israel's right to retaliate against Iran's aggression. Speculation abounds about Israel's potential overt attack on Tehran’s nuclear program, with plans to potentially employ F-35 stealth fighter jets.
Israel's recent airstrikes against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon demonstrate their proactive defense measures. Any Israeli attack on Iran could involve a combination of airpower and missiles, as per military analysts.
The seriousness of the threat is underscored by Netanyahu's convening of the War Cabinet in Tel Aviv. Retired Gen. David Petraeus highlighted Israel's range of response options, including asymmetric attacks and cyber warfare.

Fox News' Shannon Bream has raised questions about the impact of the Biden administration's policies on Iran, inquiring whether they have inadvertently funded Iran's military endeavors. Kirby countered this by stating that Iran's support for proxies has been a long-standing issue, not necessarily exacerbated by recent financial changes.
In the wake of Iran's missile development, illustrated by the launch of a Hayber missile in Tehran, President Biden has lauded Israel's defense capabilities, acknowledging their success in defending against and defeating threats, including the recent Iranian attack.
The conversation continues as the world watches to see how Israel will respond to the Iranian threat, and how the Biden administration will navigate the delicate balance of foreign policy and international security.
Conservative Bias:
Once again, the f***less Biden administration demonstrates its utter incompetence in dealing with the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism, Iran. By coddling terrorists and throwing money at them in the name of "humanitarian aid," Biden has emboldened these extremists to launch an unprecedented attack on our staunchest ally in the Middle East, Israel. This is the direct result of the weakness and appeasement strategy of the Democrats, who'd rather blame Trump for their own failures than take a hard line against the Ayatollah's murderous regime. Instead of backing Israel's right to defend itself, Biden and his band of leftist apologists are practically tying Israel's hands behind its back. It's clear that under this administration, America's enemies are given a free pass while our allies are left out in the cold.
Liberal Bias:
Once again, we're witnessing the catastrophic consequences of the previous administration's reckless foreign policy. Trump's abandonment of the Iran nuclear deal set us on a path to the dangerous brinkmanship we see today, and now the GOP is shamelessly using this crisis to attack President Biden, who is working tirelessly to keep a lid on this volatile situation. The Republicans are beating the drums of war, pushing for a confrontation that could engulf the entire region in conflict, all while conveniently ignoring their own role in dismantling the diplomatic solutions that were keeping Iran's nuclear ambitions in check. Biden's call for restraint is a voice of reason in a chorus of GOP warmongering, and yet, they have the audacity to accuse him of weakness when it's their saber-rattling that's bringing us closer to the edge of disaster.
