On a seemingly ordinary morning commute, an intriguing sight caught the attention of a passerby, leading to a Reddit post titled: "Spotted on the way to work - there’s either a dead body in there or a sleeping zombie!" The image, which has since gone viral, showcases a large, bright yellow plastic container with a hinged lid, situated outdoors on a paved area. The container sits in a corner where two walls meet—a wall made of small, grey, rectangular bricks and another constructed from rough grey pebbledash material. The pavement consists of rectangular grey concrete tiles, with scattered debris and small weeds growing out from the gaps near the base of the walls.

The yellow container has garnered significant attention due to its rust marks where the lid meets the body, creating vertical brownish streaks that some Reddit users found eerie. Comments poured in with a mix of humor and curiosity. One user speculated, "I would check it for loot," while another humorously referenced a popular phrase, "Don't dead. Open inside."

The theories didn't stop there. Some users provided practical explanations, suggesting that the container is a "salt grit container," and the rust is a result of "salt + rain + ferrous metal = rust." This practical take didn't deter the more imaginative commenters from speculating further. One user joked, "Careful!! It's a mimic!"—a reference to a creature from fantasy genres known to disguise itself as everyday objects.

Others joined in with their own witty remarks. "I'd argue a dead body is a sleeping zombie," one user quipped, while another commented, "Walking home from the pub one night I saw a guy happily taking a s*** into one of these." The thread even saw a nod to pop culture, with a user remarking, "Agent 47 approves," referencing the protagonist of the Hitman video game series.

Despite the comedic value, some users remained cautious, with one noting, "I'm unsure what I’m laughing at, I’d immediately 'nope' and run the other direction." Another user humorously advised, "Only one way to find out! Strip naked, close your eyes and then very quickly open the lid, jump in, and close the lid in one swift motion."

The mystery of the yellow container continues to intrigue, with no definitive answers in sight. Is it simply a salt grit container with rusty latches, or is there something more sinister lurking inside? The speculations and humor surrounding the image have certainly made for an entertaining discussion, and it seems this bright yellow container will remain a topic of fascination for some time to come.

It's a salt grit container. Salt + rain + ferrous metal = rust. Rust is that colour; my guess is someone left a shovel or something inside and rain got in which rusted the absolute s*** out of it.
