Amusing Signs in Mall Parking Lot Urge Shoppers to Stop Urinating
Updated Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 12:00 AM CDT
A curious and amusing sight was recently spotted in a mall parking lot, capturing the attention of many and sparking a lively discussion online. The image shows a corner of a room with a closed beige door on the left and a beige wall on the right. The door is equipped with a metal door closer mechanism attached to the top. Notably, there are two white paper signs, each with a polite request, fixed to the door and the adjacent wall.
The sign on the door reads: "KINDLY PLEASE STOP URINATING HERE. THANK YOU!" Meanwhile, the sign on the wall states: "PLEASE DO NOT URINATE HERE. THANK YOU." Both signs feature black printed text and are adhered to their respective surfaces with some form of adhesive strip. The surrounding area is plain, devoid of any distinctive features or additional elements.
The online community has had quite a reaction to these signs. One user humorously commented, "Anyone urinating there is not going to care about that sign." Another joked, "I could get uromisitisis poisoning and die!" referencing a Seinfeld episode. The comments continued with varied reactions, ranging from "but I really gotta go!" to "I would pee on the side that's not asking kindly."
Some commenters took a more serious tone, noting the broader issue of insufficient public bathrooms. One user expressed frustration, stating, "My city has been slowly doing away with bathrooms. Even in subways the bathrooms are being closed, there's fewer and fewer. And then they post 'don't urinate' signs. How do you think that's going to work? You keep removing public bathrooms. People will turn public places into bathrooms. Since peeing isn't optional."
Despite the serious undertones, the majority of reactions leaned towards the humorous side. Comments like "I followed the instructions. I peed much lower than the signs" and "Sigh* Unzips pants*" encapsulate the lighthearted nature of the discussion.
This image and the ensuing reactions highlight both the humor and the challenges associated with public restroom availability. The signs, while polite and well-intentioned, have become a source of amusement and a point of discussion about public facilities. Whether the signs will deter individuals from relieving themselves in inappropriate places remains to be seen, but they have certainly succeeded in capturing public attention.
